NanoVNA-Saver v0.2.2 #nanovna-saver

Rune has released a "Back From Christmas Update" a few hours ago. See details at: . I'll leave it to Rune to go into any particulars.

Thank you.
Is S11 or CH0 impedance also available in polar plot form.
Is the offset delay also saved with calibration file.
I attached a Smith chart file with a -1690 delay, does it look good. It is from a 36mm length of Teflon coax with open on other end. The delay seems long at least.

Rune,
I'm using firmware 0.4.3Q and the new screen capture module has worked great with all screens I have thrown at it. Thanks for this addition and hope you enjoyed the holidays.

- Herb

Thank you so much for the development of the NANO-Saver software. It has
been a blessing in my antenna system work. I do have one request. I
actually like the metric system but many of those that I show the results
have long been English measurement people. In the next iteration of this
software would it be possible to have a choice of metric or English
measurements (Feet vs Meters)? Again, I really appreciate this software and
its functionality.

Hi Herb and Rune
The S21 phase delay has been fixed OK and the S21 group delay are still correct, thank you indeed to Rune
Kind regards
Kurt

========================================================

Leif,
You may have already found this information but if not, by selecting the NanoVNA-Saver 0.2.2 "Display Settings" command button a window will pop-up and in that window there is a "Settings" button that will allow you to select for S11 (CH0) polar format to be displayed.

Rune,

Thanks for fixing the "Offset Delay" bug in Calibration. I checked it out with several coax cables and got good results. It also correlates with the "electrical delay" parameter in the NanoVNA hardware.

Your plot should be a little tighter together. Did you calibrate the NanoVNA before attaching the cable?
The plots below are 30 cm of RG316 with an open BNC connector on the end. One up to 299 MHz. and the other up to 900 MHz. offset delay was set to -1536 ps and no calibration done in NanoVNA saver.

Rune,
Good to see you are back from the holidays. The ver 0.2.2 "Christmas Update" is a welcome start to the New Year. I was waiting for your announcement of its release on this forum, but after a day went by I let the cat out of the bag for you.

Best Regards,

- Herb

Hi Herb,
thanks for that :-) I guess I forgot to announce it here as well.

Thanks. I found lS11l and S11 phase plot now allright. It would be nice to see those in markers too.

Hi Leif,
they are in 0.2.2 - set up which marker data you want under "Display
settings".

Experimenting with 2.2 today and seems to be a crash machine. Lots of nice features, but still a few bugs.

Aha. Thank you. They were clearly there but I had search a bit.

Hi Rune,

I still find some strange things in the marker handling? :

1) I did a 2 port calibration? from 10kHz to? 1400MHz (and pressed "apply")

2) I filled all 9 marker-bars with different frequencies from 1MHz to 1400MHz

3) Then I did a sweep with CH0 connected to CH1 by a +/-30 cm long? RG316 cable, that was still connected to the VNA after the through calibration.

4) After this, the markers 1 up to included 5 on the data field were filled with data, the markers 6 up to included 9? were EMPTY. !

5) Marker 4 its color was grey so the tekst above the data field did not show up on the gray background.

6) I tried to change the color, but marker 4 does not accept the new color . (I tried several others and they did)

7) The markers 3 and 4 original frequencies that were set were overwritten both with 100.616536MHz (I had set marker 5 , to 100MHz)

I hope this is of help for this great program.

Kind regards

Jos

Hi Jos,
this sounds decidedly odd. I'll have a look at it. :-)

Hi Rune,

_About the markers:_?? Today I did exactly? the same as yesterday ,? but only could reproduce items 5 and 6 :? It remains inpossible to set the color of marker 4.

What happened to the filling of the data fields is a mistery for me, I tried many things but can't reproduce, very sorry.

Best regards

Hi Rune,

My calibrations not ok, nanovna-saver graphical appication not say any errors. But command line messages have errors. Now problem found, in hungarian locale decimal dot "." is comma ",". with dot no more errors.

Hi,

I try meause 3 pin ceramic filter 460 khz. The input and output impedance is 3 Kohm. I use resistive voltage divider to connect navovna. The result is good. But i have approx. 40 dB loss on S21. Of course, this is mostly from resistive match. I try remove it with calibration. No way only S21 calibrations.

I requested S21 trought/isolation calibration only option.

Another useful feature, the normalization (trace math). Simply matematically go the trought measurement normalize to 0 dB. For example, passband loss now very easy readable.

Trace math useful, add, substract, divide, multiply, normalization value or/and measurement reference. For example, if use fixed attenuator simply enter the value and compute the trace.

Hi,

Now from Nanovna-H4 users useful information found. Nanovna-saver check usb vid/pid to detect nanovna. I succesfully used ser2net + trueport on wifi router. Now nanovna-saver not detect com port. But manually write the com name working. Please add support manual com port selection, (disable or enable vid/pid check).
