NanoVNA-saver and Windows XP
I am really delighted with NanoVNA-saver on my Windows 10 PC.s It really is a delight to use.
I have a small work bench area and I would like to also use an old Samsung Q1 ultra - an early XP small windows tablet computer. It works just fine with another well known NanoVNA package but when I try running NanoVNA saver v0.1.4 I get the following error... "Entry point not found" "The procedure entry point GetFinalPathNameByHandleW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll" [I'm running XP service pack 3 if that helps] Does anyone have any suggestions please? Kind regards Tony |

The application is written in Python 3.7, and using PyQt5 5.11 as the UI library. Python is not available from version 3.5 on XP, and PyQt5 support ended at 5.5, as far as I can tell. The source is available, so you could try to download NanoVNA-Saver and run it using whatever Python and PyQt5 versions you can get running on Windows XP. Microsoft ended the extended support for Windows XP 5? years ago, 5 years after ending mainstream support, and as such, I have no way to get build machines to make releases for it myself. I build executables for Windows 7 32 bit, which is the oldest Windows version currently supported by Microsoft. You should also be aware that the 1024x600 screen on the Q1 won't fit much of the application at a time. I hope you manage to get something running, and at the very least, that it continues to be enjoyable on your Windows 10 computer. :-) -- Rune / 5Q5R On Thu, 31 Oct 2019 at 12:51, <groupsio@...> wrote:

It may actually be more beneficial to run dual OSes on that machine: XP and Linux

In fact, why not run Linux as the base OS and XP in a VM or even drop XP in favour of WINE? Who knows - WINE may run XP apps faster... ...Larry On Thursday, October 31, 2019, 8:18:29 a.m. GMT-4, Rune Broberg <mihtjel@...> wrote:
