Re: Nanovna H4 #nanovna-h4

For a rough and ready cal, for the open, just don't put anything on. For HF, there's not a lot of difference between a connector that's open, and a connector that's missing. It's the short that you really need the right item.

A connector that's open vs having an actual open calibration standard is just a slight difference in length, for the most part. And, there's some tiny amount of radiation from the unshielded opening

It's really all about dimensions relative to a wavelength and even if you were measuring at, say, VHF frequencies of 100 MHz, a few mm of connector isn't much compared to "meters"

Re: NanoVNA 4 version 1.0.? Only save at 800Hz

On Stop frequency input you use x1 (input as Hz, not in MHz), so input result 7.3Hz, NanoVNA not allow set this value and set minimum 800Hz
Start value less then 800Hz, so and Start value also set to 800Hz
Start value = Stop value, so NanoVNA switch to CW mode

PS use correct input

Hi , some time ago , I solved the proble forcing the installation of the ST driver .
Go to location of you have installed the DfuseDemo programa like this on my PC
C:\Program Files (x86)\STMicroelectronics\Software\DfuSe v3.0.6\Bin\Driver\Win10

dpinst_amd64.exe dpinst_x86exe

execute dpinst_amd64.exe if the system is 64 bit

execute dpinst_x86exe if the system is 32 bit

Re: Where can I find the latest STM upgrade SW download for a NanoVNA-H4

Unfortunately some users have this problem, due to some driver conflict in
windows. It has been discussed in several prior message threads - search
for dfu driver to find them.

It is possible that the driver really did install, which you can check by
continuing with the next steps in the document which check the driver
installation. If not, likely you can fix it by continuing through the
document, installing dfuse-demo, which also installs the driver. Then
there is a section with details on troubleshooting the driver installation
which you can work through. I remember having to do a couple of these
steps on my system. Make sure for your system that you install the driver
with a 64 in the name (not x86).

If that doesn't work, search the messages as I noted above. A few users
have found that they needed to use a third party utility to clean the
driver installation before the new installation would work.

I am trying to do it myself again. So I did the download from STM out of

64bit driver and it failed right off the bat. This seems like this was my
major stumbling block back in time. I literally spent a week attempting to
do this and had people telling me to read the book. Well I did this time
and I got the same message.

First, let's just install the driver, not the DfuSE DEMO software.
The driver can be downloaded from the STM32 microcontroller manufacturer's
website:
When you click
on ''Get Software'' the site will ask your e-mail address to send you an
email with a download link. Click on the link inside the received e-mail to
download zip file to your computer. Save the file en.stsw-stm32102.zip in a
separate folder and unzip it. The unzipped file contains four drivers as in
the Figure 51.

The zip file contains drivers for Windows 7 and Windows 8, 32 and 64-bit.
Win 8 drivers are OK for Win 10.
NanoVNA should not be connected to a PC yet!
To begin the installation, double-click the appropriate file, 32 or 64-bit.
If you are installing on Windows 10, select W8 (32bits or 64bits) file.

My system is a W10 64 bit system and I got the message #1626 that the
driver failed to install.

Any suggestions?

Re: Nanovna H4 #nanovna-h4

The likely cause of your current issue is that when you upgrade from a
substantially earlier version of firmware, you need to "clear config", and
then power-cycle the nano. Thus clears the config variables that may be
incompatible with the new firmware. I think the "clear config" command is
under the config/expert settings menu in that firmware.

There is a newer version of firmware, which has not yet been added to the
files section of this group. It is at DiSlord's github:

Scroll down the page and click.on the NanoVNA.H4.v1.2.00.dfu file to
download it. It will also need the clear configfollowed by re-doing the
touchscreen cal, etc.
