LiteVNA has the same plastic case as Nano, judging by the images. Were you thinking of LibreVNA? On Tue, 30 Nov 2021 at 03:45, Larry Rothman <nlroth@...> wrote:

Re: Nanovna
Anthony, a few observations:
The wiki in this group makes the following observations that I find relevant: Section 1.1.5 for hardware shows that the "nanorfe.com" website is associated with the nanovna 2-0 , aka OwOComm's S-A-A-2 Section 1.1.6 covers the Nanovna-H4 , and lists it as different hardware from the SAA2 Also, the nanovna.com website points back to this group for support, while the nanorfe.com site points back to a different group here on groups.io, the NanoVNAV2 group. So I associated the question of "approved vendor" in this group with the wiki in this group, and the nanovna.com Different hardware, both using the name "Nanovna" --- hmmm, what could be confusing about that?? (slight grin) |
Re: Nanovna
Heh, you've noticed the unfortunate fact that multiple manufacturers are using the same name for their similar products, apparently to trade on the popularity of the NanoVNA name after the originator ceased being involved, and who are therefore left having to decry each other's ethics, existence, etc.. This should probably be an FAQ somewhere, but you might find the summary at /g/nanovna-users/wiki#Hardware-versions somewhat helpful.

Both pages seem to contradict each other. This page says the following: *Official stores:* - *Official store on Tindie* <> - *Official store on Taobao (NanoVNA V2 Ψһ¹Ù·½ÌÔ±¦µê)* <> *The following stores are selling illegal clones.* *The clones sold by these vendors do not have permission from the original developers and are violating the non-commercial license of the design (CC-BY-NC-SA).* - *Banggood* - *R&L electronics - still selling clones despite being asked not to by the original developers* *Important: Zeenko is selling S-A-A-2 based designs without permission and in violation of our non-commercial license, with exaggerated specifications. The original V2_2 design was open sourced to help hobbyists learn, but Zeenko's actions force us to close source later designs <>. Please reconsider supporting this vendor.* The page you reference says: *Buy a NanoVNA* *Europe Eleshop B.V. <>* *Europe Passion Radio <>* *North America Nooelec <>* *USA R&L Electronics <>* *USA GigaParts <>* *Japan Switch Science <>* *India Fab.to.Lab <>* *For platforms such as Amazon or AliExpress, please buy directly through the store provided by the link. Other advertising links on the platform may sell bad clones.* *Amazon* *AURSINC <>* *AliExpress* *Zeenko <>* * <>* Do you know which has the correct information or am I missing something. I did purchase the SAA 2N unit from R&L. Also I will point out that I did a firmware upgrade with NanoVNA 1.0.69 package. There are seven files in the package. I first tried V2Plus but that seemed very erratic. I then flashed V2 480x320 v 1.0.69 and that works fine. It did add much more in the selections in the flowchart than what came out of the box at R&L. Not to say there was anything wrong with it, but the newer firmware had more. I can also see the data on my PC using NanoVNA-QT, which I guess is expected. The next thing is to see how well it performs in certain functions. Remains to be seen.
