AG5HV has moved to Colorado Springs

Hello all,?

this is to notify you all that I have moved to Colorado Springs. I will miss talking to you all on the N5ERS. Y’all were my first repeater while starting from a 5W HT with a mag mount to a substantially better 50W all band. I spent many a morning and afternoon talking to you all oblong the way to my destination.?

I will always remember Jay W5GM and Joe N3JI telling me I need “another kilometer or kilowatt” when I got a dead spot. I actually now have about 1.8Km more altitude. Still working on the Kilowatt though. ?

hope to catch y’all on HF sometime perhaps.?

There are two antennas on the roof of my house that are not being used.? If you come take the large one, I’ll throw in the antenna tuner for free, since I don’t know if it works.

Updates on stuff

Hey ERSians,

It has been awhile since I posted. First, I want to thank and congratulate the team that lit up N5ERS for FD2021!! I just saw the score in this months ARRL journal. Great effort and awesome result!

AREDN update: All AREDN equipment has been shut down at the Grapevine site to conserve battery power. I don't think anybody was using it anyway. One of the 180deg rocket panels was dead and not powering up.

I need to do a climb to pull a few antennas down at some point before the ice hits. There are also several fried solar panels on top of the shelter that I need to yank as well.

Everything else seems to be pretty status quo.

I just saw this on the rene bates auction site. Do you need a ham radio man cave?

Re: Field Day 2021

Yes! I will be bringing it to FD! I just used it today to get some SSTV from the ISS.?

Re: Field Day 2021

Having the right antenna for satellite is the only thing that kept us off the birds last year.. I think working those would be awesome.

Joe, N3JI, has floated the idea of doing something at the repeater site again this year.

Well can’t say we didn’t see this coming. I was in store 1.5 years ago in California and they shelves looked as empty as Dallas locations.

Maybe they were a laundering operation for South/Central America drug lords and Trump took a bite out of them and then covid hit with closed boarders…LOL

Fry's management was not customer friendly!

As their shelves began to get more bare, the

online orders continued from the warehouse

to deplete the stock. Their ridiculous scratch

receipt before exit was just that, ridiculous. The

short distance from the registers to the door

was the final customer insult. why would they think

anyone would be loading up on their way out?

Oh well, maybe a good business will occupy the

building.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I say good riddance. It was an awful
business model, and they lost a customer for life when I was trying to
replace a WD Red that had died in one of my storage arrays and they
would not price match Newegg because they claimed that Newegg's drive
was a model exclusive to them. Strangely enough, Microcenter had no
problem matching that very same day.
