Should We Proceed With the
?CFA Southern Region Awards Banquet & Show as Planned?

It¡¯s wonderful to see folks in our region expressing their concern about our Regional. And asking lots of questions. So¡let¡¯s clarify a few things.
Several folks have already asked both Kenny and myself about holding the regional at a later date.?The committee decided that it was easier and less confusing for everyone to break these questions into logical segments. The original poll and commentary did include questions about a later event, and, well, it was confusing for us! So, we decided that it was better to determine first if there was interest in having the Regional and show as planned, and what the support of either/both functions would be.
Why focus on this? It has to do with deposit deadlines. We will shortly be coming up on a deadline where we need to either pay another large deposit, or cancel. That means that we need to decide that question NOW, and then later focus on when and how we can safely hold our regional event.
¡°Safely hold¡± means a lot of things. It includes determining if venues will be open to the public and will we have enough advance notice to regroup. It includes the availability of travel ¨C if flights are regular and if folks driving long distances can take rest breaks.
Kenny has stated that it is his intention to be able to honor the 2019-2020 winners. It may very well be later in the year (if that is what the region wishes). It may have to change venues and/or manner of presentation depending on what is available when. But¡we will honor our winners.
That being said, let¡¯s wrap this poll up by noon Wednesday April 1.?After that point, we can either begin discussing plans for June, or plans for a later date.
