Re: Portable Battery Charger/Bank/Power Pack
开云体育I am very surprised at the low price. I used to pay more that $100 for a mophie JuiceBox.?But with Paul’s recommendation, I would try it. I like the built in solar charger. I usually need it now for power outages in the winter months. This would be easy enough to just leave on a window sill for months.? Re: Portable Battery Charger/Bank/Power Pack
开云体育If you are looking for a dedicated battery fir a phone, I highly recommend the mophie JuiceBox. A case with a huilt in case. I used them when I worked on construction site with huge lifting equipment in areas with little to no cellular signal, so it went thru battery charges like crazy. Searching for a signal is a highly draining activity. Even with no screen protector, the lip of the case kept the screen undamaged. And they doubled the battery capacity.?On my iPhone Xr On May 28, 2024, at 08:18, Madeline Koch <madeline@...> wrote:

开云体育I didn’t realize that there were such add-ons for tool batteries. It’s a great idea! But not so much for my personal case. I have a big house with forty-eight 400-watt solar panels. Last year I generated almost exactly as much as I used. Otto Nikolaus wrote:

Re: Portable Battery Charger/Bank/Power Pack
That’s a great idea, and I’m annoyed that I didn’t think of it! After all, power tools need a lot of power (energy) so their battery packs will be able do a lot of charging of small electronic devices. I hope that more and more brands make this easy to do.

Portable Battery Charger/Bank/Power Pack
Bev et al. ...
add this to your _home-based_ power bank ideas.... Many cordless tool brands also have USB adapters to connect to their batteries, as many of us now use cordless power tools. I think it worth investing in a USB adapter to allow maximum usage or power tool batteries, knowing that the batteries are always there, and we're not using the tools all the time... as those batteries are both heavy and bulky, it's best they are used at home or in RVs, less appropriate for travel... Example: This Ridgid branded one has USB-A.... Other tool brands also have their versions.... And if you have different brands of tools, you can also buy battery "converters" that allow you to use cross-brand batteries, again, maximizing battery utility among your tools. (For example, I have Bosch, Ridgid and some Black & Decker tools... mostly use the Bosch & Ridgid ones, so I have a converter that allows me to use Bosch batteries on Ridgid tools and vice versa, and since I infrequently use B&D tools (for which I only have 1 battery) I have 2 adapters that allow me to use both Bosch and Ridgid batteries on the B&D tools. (B&D 18V tools have been discontinued as marketing dept. decided to make them 20V now, so batteries would cost an arm and a leg if you can even find them.) |

All my charging cables are USB-C on the end towards the charging device, but the first one would require an adapter to fit its USB-A ports. ? The second one appears to be a higher wattage than the first one. ?I didn’t see what wattage the first one had, but its Q&A section mentions that it can’t charge a laptop because it’s less than 30W. ?I didn’t think about charging a laptop, because I mostly use my iPad. ?But my husband uses his a great deal. ?Perhaps we need two of portable battery chargers, one for each of us. -- Bev in TX |

Re: Portable Battery Charger/Bank/Power Pack
开云体育Yes, if you expect to use it when away from home, make sure you have the right cable for your phone. If portability is not the main concern and lasting through a power outage is the main use, then I think capacity becomes more important.?Otto
