If you have 2 factor authentication turned on, that will be why thunderbird can¡¯t get in. You need to setup a special password on iCloud and copy that to Thunderbird. And your iCloud mail password

I¡¯ve never used Thunderbird, but this is the case as well for the BusyMac applications (BusyCal, Busy Contacts). At least for those apps, the publisher is VERY explicit, both in the documentation
