Re: [Admin] [macsupportcentral] Finder applications opening default
开云体育I’m ashamed to say that I’ve only just read that section for the first time! The option to quote part of the message seems simple and intuitive and what I would recommend in most cases, a “default” action unless there’s a good reason not to.Thanks!? Otto

Re: [Admin] [macsupportcentral] Finder applications opening default
Yes, but mostly we just want to quote part of the message and selecting that before hitting Reply seems very simple and intuitive. You don’t even need to Copy (cmd-c) the selected text.

We are not strict here. Please do *not* be afraid to ask any questions you might have. It’s better to quote what you are replying to but it is *not* essential. We are all about helping, not enforcing rules!

Unfortunately, the problem is usually that for some reason folks tend not to use their email app for mail lists but respond to messages on the groups.io site.?
An instance of RTFM. . .

It is not in your group setting, but the setting ir prefs for your email app.?

My instructions change the system default.

When you open a link to a PDF within a browser, the browser itself may act as the viewer by default. In fact, all the modern browsers that I’m familiar with do this now. Older versions pass the file to the system, typically defaulting to the system default. However, as Jim points out, many browsers can be configured to specify an application other than the default. For instance in Firefox the default PDF behavior (use the internal viewer) can be changed to use an external application of your choice. This setting is independent of the system default. This is in the Groups.io manual. The section you want to review is entitled "Quoting messages you are replying to."

It would help if the site showed an option to quote along side the option to reply, rather than having a vague symbol that appears after you choose to reply. ?

I’m curious. Many browsers offer to open html pages as PDFs. And, of course, many web pages offer links to pdfs. Are your instructions aimed at people attempting to open existing pdfs from the Finder, or also to opening them from within a browser because Doris, the original poster in this thread, was asking about opening pdfs from within her browser (and did not specify what browser she was using). Thanks so much,

Re: PDF reader pro
开云体育Right or control click. Get Info. About mid way down you’ll see “Open with:” ?Set this to “Preview.app” and then click the “Change All” button. This changes the default for that file type.

Is there any way to instruct my Mac to go back to using Preview without trashing?PDF ? Thanks, Doris\ |
Re: [Admin] [macsupportcentral] Finder applications opening default
So you do this at the site instead of by email? I’ll see if there’s anything we can change.
