Re: Epson printer gone, can't get it off my Mac
开云体育I usually use “TrashMe” myself to get rid of everything. Good thing is, it will also get rid of locked files after you reboot. There are others out there including AppCleaner, AppTrap, AppDelete & AppZapper. Mostly, they remove the application and the supporting files, sometimes requiring a reboot. My desire to keep a clean working system really forces me to get rid of everything to do with a program I no longer want. YMMV. Christopher

Re: Top Results & Chrominum Malware Alert
开云体育Hi Denver Dan,If you’re using FireFox, you really should be using the AdBlock Plus extension. There are multiples available but I have always found this one (??) the best! They also make the same extension for most browsers out there. Christopher

Re: Brother ink cartridge problem
McAllister
Please excuse me for taking so long answering your reply ?It's been rather chaotic here
Thanks for the rapid reply, Randy. ?Yes, both cartridges are Brother - the second had just been purchased locally. My feeling is that passing this on to Brother wouldn't be very useful. ?The printer was bought almost 3 years ago – long since out of warranty. ?Maybe i'll give it a try anyway. ?They may have seen the problem before and know something to do. I posted here first because I see a number of ?very knowledgeable users on the forum. Many thanks, Stratton McAllister |
Re: Epson printer gone, can't get it off my Mac
开云体育Were you given a message that you could not kill them, or did it simply not let you drag it there? Are you in an administrator account? Conceivably if you are it will ask for a password to do it. If in a “peon” account then maybe it just won’t let you do it. A great app that might help (which I have not used for ages, so maybe won’t work on new OS versions) is Trash It. Sometimes that works. Then there is the “folder from hell” that sometimes works. Can you move these files elsewhere, even if you cannot trash them? Make a new folder on your desktop. Then, somewhere else, other than your Desktop, create another folder with exactly the same name. Put the files you want to kill in the one on the desktop. Then move the other folder to the desktop. You will get a message that says that a file of that name already exists, and asks if you want to replace it or rename, etc. You want to replace it, which will delete the old folder. N.B. I’ve never tried this, but supposedly it works.

I would try logging out of iCloud on all devices, wait a few minutes and log in again.

Re: Epson printer gone, can't get it off my Mac
Howdy.
Open your Applications folder and drag anything Epson to Trash. There may be other Epson items lurking in one of the Library folders but they just become inert. You could do a Command f (Find) and search for them. Or, try EasyFind.app and search for them. Thanks Bill and Barry — I got rid of the Epson printer from my Mac System.
Now how can I get rid of the Epson apps in launchpad from the computer? I tried dragging them to the trash bin, but that doesn’t work. There are 9 of these items. Thanks, Carol Sent from my iPad Pro |

Top Results & Chrominum Malware Alert
Howdy.
I found two malware items on my MacPro 2019 this morning. 1. Top Results (some form of adware). 2. Chrominum (possibly a fake browser to mimic Google's Chrome?? I noticed both as items in System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items. I have only a suspicion that Top Results might have been installed along with either an MPlayer or MPlayerX app for playing videos. Chrominum could be linked to a legit web browser that is an effort to avoid Google's constant tracking and copying of everything every computer user does, but, it could be a piece of malware that mimic the real Chrominum. I've never installed or used Chrome or anything called Chrominum so have no idea how it sneaked in. Top Results may put adds into the Safari browser and change of Safari Home Page works. I use Firefox and had not noticed any odd ads but be get so deluged with them - who knows?? Do a search for Top Results removal info. It could take more steps that one might think. The excellent EasyFind.app was a good help to me. Like the sergeant said in every episode of, "Hill Street Blues," "Be careful out there." Right click, move to trash. Then empty trash if you like. Once trash is emptied, you cannot recover these files.

开云体育Thanks, Bill. That absolutely worked. Can you tell me how to get rid of the 9 Epson items/apps on my launchpad? I have never been successful deleting any apps from my Mac. Thanks. Carol —— On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. In the left column are the printers you have used/are using. Highlight the Epson and at the bottom left of that pane, then click the minus (-) symbol. That should take care of it. 11 Pro Max |
Free Time Tracker
Brian via Groups.Io wrote:? I am looking for suggestions for a free (or inexpensive) time tracker. Nothing fancy, just basic hours, tasks and expenses.
While not free either, this is a very capable app for $39.95 which allows you to set up client and user profiles, as well as customized invoices for timed jobs and expenses. You can automatically round up to intervals you decide... I've used this for years, and the current version is 3.0.9 – though a few years old - it runs under Sierra OSX10.12. It's been very stable and usable. I've recovered so much billable time by using this for my work (time based) that it has paid its way over many times. The new version for Catalina compatibility is in beta at this point... Developer feedback for support is good. |
