Last year I read several articles that said to reply with STOP to political text messages. ?Doing that greatly reduced the number of political text messages that I was receiving. ?Don't do that for other types of SPAM.

In the USA you can forward actual SPAM to the FTC:

I found blocking SPAM numbers to be an exercise in futility due to phone number spoofing.

Guys, guys. You were started down this path long ago.?

Don’t believe me, then open Sys Prefs on your Mac. You can’t if you are running a macOS higher than Catalina. You have Settings instead.?

In 2020, Big Sur was released, and it was a big step to merge masOS and iOS, but not the first step.?

I lingered back on Lion too long, so it was a shock when I had to move forward. Right now I am stuck at Catalina. And it was a shock. I had to learn a new vocabulary and different ways to do things. I hate that things are hidden unless you are hovering over them, with no clues of where to hover. Examples, close tab in Safari, or add additional (?something to due with mailboxes, senior moment) in Mail.?

The 100 plus Settings makes me think of bloatware, Windows and MS Word, not “Simple, and it just works.”.

It might be a wild thought since the first iPhone or iPad. They have been slowly leaning that way for a long time, but Apple has lots of experience counteracting resistance to change.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find that it has been in the works since the introduction of Apple Silicon.

Perhaps it will make Macs more appealing to those who otherwise like Apple stuff but not the Mac?
I’m sure that’s exactly what Apple is hoping.

Right now it only offers one alert, I have to move from my Mac to my iPhone to add the second alert for it to show on the Mac. What a PITbackside. Apple does not seen to have a article to correct this in Support.

All tests seem to indicate that the minimum amount of RAM (i.e. the minimum spec) is plenty if you purchase an "Apple Silicon" Macintosh, unless you do things that are hugely RAM intensive, such as video editing, 3D modeling, etc. (Of course, M1’s came with 8GB of RAM minimum, and the latest M4’s come with 16GB. In either case, the minimum is usually plenty.) See:

LG makes several 27” 4K monitors (check Amazon).

I would seriously consider getting ?good 3rd-party monitor, getting an Apple trackpad, getting a keyboard, Apple or 3rd-party, and then you have the freedom to choose the optimum computer for you.

That could be a Mac Mini, or a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro.
You can use a laptop easily in “clamshell mode”, using the external monitor, trackpad, and keyboard. Or mouse, if you choose.

You can get a refurbished M3 Macbook Air from Apple for under $1000, with an Applecare warranty.

I am not sure about how much memory I should get or which processor.
I am not gaming or doing major video editing. Being old school I feel more memory is better but have read that is no longer true.

16BG of RAM will be plenty for you.

I had to stop relying on my early 2008 MBP because the browsers it could use were not acceptable by most web sites. I moved up to a late 2012 Mac mini, and Safari?Version 15.6.1, the version that comes with Catalina, macOS 10.15 is having issues being accepted by some sites. In particular, a few of the sites for my monthly bills, and CVS when I need to order up a refill.
