Bluetooth problem

Well I have a Bluetooth problem I’m hoping someone can help me with.

For several weeks now (perhaps months) my Bluetooth mouse (battery power) loses its connection to my circa 2012 iMac running catalina - but it’s not an issue with catalina because it was happening (more frequently) with El Capitan before I upgraded to Catalina. It’s not just my mouse. My wife has a similar mouse she used to use with her MacBook and the problem occurs when I use her mouse on my computer.

Sometimes the connection would quit and come back in a matter of seconds after clicking the mouse - other times the connection would not come back and I would walk away from the computer and come back 10 or 15 minutes later and the connection would be restored.

I took the computer to TechRestore and they kept it for several days and could not duplicate the problem. But they did not have my keyboard or any of the connected peripherals (see below).

When I got the computer back home and reconnected it I thought perhaps the Bluetooth on my other devices might be causing the problem so I turned Bluetooth off on my wife’s MacBook, my iPad, and my iPhone. I also left my FitBit [yeah I know - please don’t give me any grief over that :-) ]
in another room. Removing other Bluetooth devices has helped lessen the problem however it still occurs but not as often and the mouse always reconnects after a few seconds. (The only other bluetooth devices near the computer is my Apple Bluetooth keyboard which I cannot turn off an my hearing aides but they only use bluetooth to connect to the iPhone).

My next idea is to remove from my iMac my three external USB drives (two SSDs and one that’s not SSD), my Satechie USB hub, my external monitor connected via Thunderbolt, and my external speakers which are plugged into the earphone jack on my iMac and see if the problem goes away. If it does then I will reconnect them one at a time to try and figure out if one or more of them could be causing the problem. What do you think of this idea?

So has anyone else had this problem. If so were you able to correct it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone is well and staying safe and sane during this crazy time we are living through.

Thanks

You can walk in but appointment suggested.
For your keyboard situation, they strongly suggest you do a mail in option directly to Apple as they are at least 2 weeks behind on touching anything that comes in at this point. In other words, it would sit there for at least 2 weeks minimum.

Harry,

Another advantage of Photo over iPhoto are photos with editing. The old iPhoto would save another photo with the adjustments, so more disk space was eaten. Photos saves the adjustments only which are a fraction of a duplicate photo.

Before I upgraded my computer to Catalina from El Capitan I couldn’t
view the the downloaded photos on my computer. In Catalin Preview will
open the files and so will Photoshop Elements. In preview you can
export the photo to .jpg and in Photoshop Elements you can save the
file in .jpg format. I found this article about the change in format
on the internet.

The article says OS High Sierra and above can handle the files
natively. In the article there is a link to download a converter app
for OS’ below High Sierra. I haven’t tried the app since Preview and
Photoshop do the conversions in Catalina (I didn’t bother to figure
out what was going on before I upgraded to Catalina.
