Problem with CUPS on 64bit Pi-5 Bookworm
I had cups running OK on an SD card before I switched to an NVMe device and mistakenly managed to overwrite my SD card.? I started over and am now running only on the official Pi NVMe ssd .
?
Using the procedure given here: ?
?
Upon reaching this step in the procedure,? Adding a Printer to CUPS, step 2,? I get a privacy message from the Chromium browser:
? ? ?"Your connection is not private
? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from?192.168.1.41?(for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).?Learn more about this warning net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID ? ?Turn on enhanced protection?to get Chrome's highest level of security
In Chromiumj, Settins, Safe Browsing, I have? Standard protection selected.
I will appreciate any help to get CUPS working on my Pi-5.? I don't want to change a setting without being sure of the site I am using and how this all works.

开云体育Hello John, This is probably due to Chromium insisting on using HTTPS but CUPS is using a self-signed HTTPS x.509 certificate.? You can either choose to tell Chromium to trust and accept this local certificate or you can install a fully-blessed X.509 certificate.? You can get those from commercial vendors (cost levels depend on the trust level, the # of years being valid, etc), or get free letsencrypt.org certs that last for three months at a time. --David KI6ZHD On 12/18/2024 09:32 AM, John, W0GN

开云体育Hello John, This certificate would be at the OS aka system-wide level.? To be honest, I would just recommend to accept the self-signed certificate for home internal uses.? If you really don't like that route, I recommend to do a web search for "linux install lets encrypt certificate for cups".? If you want to use free certs, look for guides to install/use "lets encrypt" and then after that, review guides to confirm that certificate will be accessible by the CUPS subsystem. --David KI6ZHD On 12/19/2024 05:08 AM, John, W0GN

开云体育Hello, On my Linux installs, whether ARM or Intel hardware, I dump Chromium. I run Firefox instead. I have no problem running CUPS.? Cheers, Robert? KG4KGL

开云体育It has been ages since I setup CUPS for that! From memory one has to "Allow" the LAN addresses in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf (defaults to localhost), but I would expect that is all configurable via the interface you just got working. From the other client, then one just browses the network
(resources) and install the link and drivers etc, but they of
course may have their own firewall etc security to get through. Cheers Bob VK2YQA On 25/12/24 07:40, John, W0GN wrote:
