Re: flrig stopped working on my Mac -- any suggestions?

With ft-710 for example there are two ports appearing in the system ("standard" and "enhanced") BUT the order of them appearing in the macos is always random. That broke flrig (my fldigi talks to flrig) connection randomly since I always had "cu.SLAB_USBtoUART3" set in flrig. Maybe it's the same problem with x6200? flrig stopped working on my Mac -- any suggestions?
I've had flrig working on my MacBook Air (M2, running macOS 15.2) for a few days with my Xiegu X6200 (using the X6100 rig choice in prefs). With the exception of needing to reboot between usages of it and the radio, it was working fine. The reboots were required because after shutting down flrig and the radio, the next time I started up the radio and flrig, it would tell me that the serial port was in use by another program (it wasn't, as far as I can tell).
?
Suddenly, last night, every time I would start up flrig, it would freeze with the "Initializing" progress bar showing. I would eventually have to kill the process ("killall flrig") to get it to stop. I tried rebooting multiple times with no change. Today, I removed the .flrig folder in case the config files had somehow become corrupted. When I set up the config and hit the "Init" button, it once again froze up on me. A little while ago, I downloaded the signed (notarized) version of 2.0.5.85 from another thread in this group and installed it. Deleted the .flrig folder once again so I was starting with no pre-existing config, but this version also freezes when I hit the "Init" button.
?
Before deciding to give flrig a try, I had previously used HamLib's rigctld to control the radio. To verify that the radio is "talking" fine through the specified serial port, I ran rigctld just now and connected to the radio through JTDX. After reconfiguring JTDX to use HamLib, it connected perfectly. So it appears that it's not a problem with the USB serial port, nor does it appear to be a problem with the radio.
?
I'd *really* like to be able to use flrig because I have never figured out a way to make RUMlogNG work with HamLib/rigctld but it worked perfectly with flrig until flrig stopped working for me. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Re: Problem with CUPS on 64bit Pi-5 Bookworm
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello John, This certificate would be at the OS aka system-wide level.? To be honest, I would just recommend to accept the self-signed certificate for home internal uses.? If you really don't like that route, I recommend to do a web search for "linux install lets encrypt certificate for cups".? If you want to use free certs, look for guides to install/use "lets encrypt" and then after that, review guides to confirm that certificate will be accessible by the CUPS subsystem. --David KI6ZHD On 12/19/2024 05:08 AM, John, W0GN

What are the settings to get Fldigi to control my FTDX10?
I had to do a rebuild and can't get fldigi to control my FTDX10.? Radio works fine using CAT in WSJT-X so I know USB communications will work.?? I am getting a good waterfall in Fldigi and PSK31 decodes.? When I try CQ I can hear the tones on the headphones on the radio so audio in that direction is working but the transmitter is not keyed.? The computer also isn't controlling band or frequency. I have tried all of the Rig dialogs and can't get any to work.? I suspect rigCATdoesn't work because I don't have a .xml file for the radio.? For the others where possible I have set to FTDX10.? When I go to the .xml file download site listed in the documentation there isn't a file for the FTDX10.? Google hasn't been all that helpful on suggesting an alternative file to use. It looks like things are working except for controlling the radio. Dave W2IJL |

Hi David,
?
Thanks for getting back to me. Attached is the trace.txt file with the settings shown above. I do have polling enabled in the settings and perhaps the polling rate is set too high, but I have tried it slower and faster to no avail.

Re: Problem with CUPS on 64bit Pi-5 Bookworm
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello John, This is probably due to Chromium insisting on using HTTPS but CUPS is using a self-signed HTTPS x.509 certificate.? You can either choose to tell Chromium to trust and accept this local certificate or you can install a fully-blessed X.509 certificate.? You can get those from commercial vendors (cost levels depend on the trust level, the # of years being valid, etc), or get free letsencrypt.org certs that last for three months at a time. --David KI6ZHD On 12/18/2024 09:32 AM, John, W0GN

When fldigi runs for a while weirdness in the WF happens.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDave,Here is a curiosity question: I am running the current alpha code (4.2.06.15) now, but have seen this multiple line blurring effect going back a ways in previous versions. If I run fldigi on this Win 11 or my old Win 10? i7 boxen for a while, The display goes like: and the copy become erratic. If I close
fldigi and immediately restart the display goes back to normal and
copy is nominal:
This appears to happen in all digital modes I commonly use (most often Thor, Olivia, FSQ - but also others). It also impacts all visible signals on the waterfall together. I notice it on the 7300 because it is my primary "digital" radio, but also have seen it on the 705 and 7610. At first I thought it was a propagation artifact, until I restarted the program and immediately the blurring was gone. Restarting the program always clears things up. Any clues what this might be? Something with the fourier algorithm associated with WF and decode? I am sure my cat did not walk on the keyboard... :) Note, those two birdies seem to be generated away from the QTH - they are periodic and don't bother me when there. They were convenient to show what happens to all signals. -- Jack Spitznagel KD4IZ FM19oo Pakton, MD |

fldigi and PicoRX + introduction
Hello,
I am trying to get fldigi to talk with my PicoRX via its Kenwood TS-480 emulation but all that happens is that fldigi stalls until it runs out of retries I think. Has anyone had any luck getting it to work? I have gotten Grig to communicate with PicoRX so the communication works. As for a introduction, I am looking for a way to receive Weather Fax and since I am Linux user, fldigi looks very appealing. I have tried to get a ham license but I am not that interested in transmitting. //P?r aka MrSVCD |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýRe:- From: Mark, KE8NHT Ohio Do you have Config Settings> Misc > Save Parameters>
AFC Control checked or not? I did notice at one point that it
prevented changing the setting if that was not checked in some
modes.
Hi Mark.
No, all the boxes are ticked in there, and always have been.
I can't see how that would cause the AFC control to be totally
disabled anyway, saving (or not) the setting per band/mode is one
thing, preventing it's use is another.
Anyway, for whatever reason "Today", that control has been
re-enabled!? Other than shutting down Fldigi, and rebooting the pc
sometime after, nothing else has been changed.
I suspect an "edge case" in the code somewhere, but my faded
grey cell has trouble following the code between modules in Flrig,
let alone Fldigi!
It's all a bit moot at present, it now being the Xmas QRM fest
season.? I have S9+20dB noise on most HF bands now, due to all the
cheap chinesium blinking lights around here in the evening!
Correction!? Just loaded up Fldigi, and selected 20m Olivia
8/250, and again the AFC "control" is disabled, but the red cursor
lines move about as if the AFC itself is still active.
Also, again, I needed to "Toggle" the Rv button, to ensure the
decoding modem is set for the right sense. (Not inverted tones.)?
That only needs doing once, for each time Fldigi is started.?
Something awry in the settings save on exit, reload on start
perhaps.
But, this is alpha test sw, so ...

fldigi 4.2.06 crash at end of MFSK64 image send
Running fldigi 4.2.06 under Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon 6.0.4 - full sysinfo at end if needed.
?
Sent a large color image which was received. As it finished, fldigi closed with the image window. After reopening, the software lost the ability to transmit text - would key the transmitter but not send anything. Finally rebooted the computer to get an ident sent.
?
I don't use image transmission very often. If it's a size issue, the image was a 436kB color image that took about 14 min to send, a portion of a screenshot that included the waterfall of something to share with a net.
?
Similarly, there have been crashes if the image send is aborted before completion. Sometimes killing the fldigi process by pid gets things working again without rebooting the system. That didn't help this time - was able to restart the software but unable to send anything until I finally rebooted the computer.
