To install the deb? apt remove wsjtx ? first then, download to
downloads folder, cd to that folder and
sudo apt install ./
or the deb you choose..

Sorry, i thought I read somewhere that it did have it.
My other suggestion is to install flatpak 'bottles' and use HRD
as the interface.,
Or get latest wsjtx_improved sourcecode and compile as per that
link I sent.
First you can try the latest deb file appropriate from here ;
These have latest hamlib etc. The source section is close to
these on search.

If both radio selections below do that, then revert to
using vox for ptt, and setup vox in the radio.
A later version wsjtx (with later hamlib) , that you
may need to compile from source may work.

Rig failure hamlib error:communications timed out

rig.c(2290):rig_set_mode_ return (-5) while setting
