The latest hamlib has a
virtual transceiver named 'flrig'.? flrig is capable of serving
a multitude of xmlrpc clients concurrently; fldigi directly,
wsjtx and other applications integrated with hamlib.
The latest flrig already has a truSDX backend.

Well, according to:-
Quite likely, as it emulates a Kenwood TS-480
But...? Maybe not all of the TS-480 full CAT function/command
set.
As mentioned elsewhere recently, Flrig (and Fldigi) are open
source, so
it is possible to adapt and roll your own rig class (in Flrig.)
Fldigi, has a XML interpreter of sorts, where you can build a
rig
definition file for any radio.? There is already lots of
existing XML
files for many radios, plenty of Kenwood's too.
See:-?
And
download the file for the TS-480 for example, and see how much
of that
works as is.
All you need is a good "plain text" editor to make changes.
Hint!!? Just coment out stuff that doesn't work (for now.)? You
may need
to reference it later as your knowledge and experience grows.
From past personal experience with the TS-870s, that's how I
started.?
When I was ready having figured out how to control the rig,
there was
plenty of help to get to grips with the source code of Flrig.
I'd highly recommend you start there (the XML file route in
Fldigi) if
just to learn the basics of CAT control, and very basic (as in
simple,
not the language) programming of sorts, before you move to
coding for Flrig.
One step at a time etc.
Hope something helps.

?Thanks Dave for all that info. You are a mine of information and
good advise..
I use flrig for the cat stuff and fldigi for the decoding. Cat is
a new thing for me. Previously I would have fldigi wsjtx and sstv
all running at the same time but they all want cat control so I
have to open each when needed and shut dow
n those not? in focus.?
Anyway the Christmas madness is upon us now so hopefully I'll get
a chance to sort out my 80m dipole and some qsos.
All the best
