Tested the last version in both Linux and Win XP environment, both behaved nearly similar. Because of screen resolution used (1280 x 1024) I simply can't read a 6 pt. font, even worse if Times faced. Therefore I suggest to change this font to a bit bigger size with Helvetice face.
I had not noticed this before, but even at 1024 by 768 the font in the status bar is rather small.
