sounds like a problem with your netlist. If they all highlight, thats usually when they are all the same net, or none part of a net. did you export your netlist from the schematic? I can't think how this could go wrong, but it seems your problem is that nothing is connected. that will give the arrows when you try to draw a trace on them.
