Re: Problem drawing rectangle in Libedit when creating a new part.

It's just a slightly different drawing method...

select the rectangle tool

click ONCE (do not press and hole) at the first point.
move mouse (no buttons pressed) to where you want the end point to be,
then click again.

OK, first off I am very new to using KiCad, so a bit of patience would be appreciated as I wander through the newbie stage of my experience.

I am trying to add a part to a library I have started for an item I buy from a third party and have been following the tutorial that comes with KiCad as part of that process. I get into the new part state easily enough and have added 3 pins for my component, but when I go to draw a rectangle for the item I'm having a problem. After selecting the 'draw rectangle' icon in the left tool panel I can draw the rectangle, but cannot get it to stick. If I move the mouse at all after completing the shape the program is acting like it is a selector to move the pins and labels around, even though the pins go outside of the rectangle, and will not stop doing that until I right click and select End Tool or hit escape - after which the rectangle disappears. Obviously I am missing something simple, so any assistance much appreciated at this point.

Thanks,
R. Mycroft
