Gina,

Nice catch! Seems like I'm good at forgetting something. :-)

The annual club picnic will be at Wiard Park on the east side up against Wiard Street. It's the main gazebo or whatever they call it I do believe.

Thank you for catching my miss. :-)

Aluminum pile reduction, Tri-band antennas

Hello Everybody,

I am trying to reduce the aluminum pile in my backyard.? I appear to have two three element tri-band antennas that have some from a couple of local silent keys.? They are available to any current member of the K-BAR-A club for a donation to the club treasury.? You decide what they are worth.? Just reply to this?email and I will set one aside for you.? I don't know who the vendor but they do have a 18-foot boom.? Both are missing a bracket or two.

You can follow Dennie and Marie on Facebook. They moved to a retirement community some where in northern California. Best guess is around the Sacramento area. They have a son, Lee Dunkeson, who is living in the nearby area of the retirement home.. That's all I know.

If you’re available Saturday, August 12th, to help out, or know of other hams who might, please let Charlie or me know.? We would really appreciate your participation and assistance.

?

To all COARECT Members, Families and Friends, Served Agency Officials and Partners,

National ARRL Field Day this year starts on Friday June 23rd and finishes on Sunday June? 25th?. The primary object of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 Meter HF bands, as well as all bands 50 MHz and above, and in doing so to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.

We’ll be holding our Field Day at Prairie Campground off of Paulina Lake Road which is on the way up to the Caldera. After crossing Paulina Creek take the next right-hand turn into the campground. The campground is across the road from Ogden Group Camp.

We will be setting up three stations and antennas on Friday and playing radio on Saturday. Each of the stations will be working on different bands to minimize the chance for interference. And for the first time we will be logging our contacts on the computers at the three stations. Our plan is to cycle people through each of the stations so everyone, including visitors, can have a chance to make some contacts and do some logging. We can also help people with radio programming, Winlink RMS Express operation and installation, antenna issues and so on.

Saturday afternoon/early evening there will be a potluck. Sharon Reeder | W6FNS and her helpers are organizing this and will need some assistance. COARECT will be buying hamburgers and hot dogs and I’m sure she will be asking for side dishes/desserts. Sunday morning Jim Williams will be making his famous BBQ pancakes and I’m sure he would appreciate some fruity ingredients. Please bring your own utensils, plates, chairs, and your favorite drink.

Our setup can begin anytime on Friday. We can begin operating at 11:00AM on Saturday and we must finish operating at 10:59AM on Sunday morning. That’s 24 hours…..which is ok because we don’t want to miss the pancakes.

Here is a blog post on our website about the GMRS repeater as well as some additional links on getting licensed, radios and repeater information.? I also included a couple pictures including the repeater equipment and omni antenna that was installed just above our Hamaker to Hogback microwave network link.

Special thanks to Terry/KA6DNO, Walt/KK7DRL, Cory/KK7DCI, Jeff/KJ7IRV, Chuck/KJ7KWR and Jim/WO7V for various site work, support and testing.? We couldn't have done it without you!? :)
?
We also thank Dale Beatty/N6ZCM/WRTX950 for bringing a GMRS repeater to Klamath Falls.? He's very knowledgeable and was great to work with.? Please don't hesitate to reach out to him via the repeater.? Make sure to use your GMRS call sign not your amateur radio one.? :)

Repeater is at 462.600, +5MHz offset and a tone of 127.3.
?
Please let me know if there are any questions.? :)

This is from Dale Beaty (repeater owner):

Good Sunday evening to all!
Just some info about the repeater.
I use GMRS Live to link the repeaters together. Currently 3 of them.
You can visit to see the status of what is linked.
Scroll to the last node which is 2149, this is my hub, it is a cloud server out of Seattle Washington. The 3 repeaters, link to a repeater in Sprague river, my truck node all connect to the hub at boot up.
I can link any of the other GMRS Live network in our repeater system.
The 2 tone beep is indicating that you are connect to another node and transmitting to the other node.
Currently the DTMF sound is when someone on the link unkeys at their end transmission. I am gonna change that to some kind of single beep.

There a lot of other networks out there as you heard tonight during the Texas GMRS net.
Our repeater on Hogback has a fail safe system, if for any reason the network node controller fails, the repeater will continue to operate as a stand alone repeater, there is no courtesy tone or Morse code Id.
Please reach out to me if this happens. I might be changing some settings and rebooting the controller, but if it continues reach out to me.
If you ever want to listen to any other network let me know and I can link us in.
Soon we will be able to link to the 3 repeaters int the Medford Grants pass area.
So if you travel that way let me know I can connect to them.
Check them out at

Any questions please drop me a line.
You can share this email with others who are interested in the system.
