Re: Request for Comments - Field Day advertising with KLAD
Amateur radio is a PUBLIC SERVICE.? As such all advertising should be in the form of a public service announcement free of charge. 73, Jim WO7V On Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 10:28 PM Cynthia W Albro, KK7AZD <cyndi@...> wrote:

Good evening. I don't have enough info to say yeah or nay.? I guess I'll find out more after the meeting with KLAD tomorrow.? Having said that, I think it comes down to the purpose of paid advertisement. What is the intention?? Membership recruitment?? Education?? What outcome would be considered a success? I almost think that the media might want to report "news" and "events" for free.? More questions and thoughts: Are we sending press releases to local news outlets?? If indeed we want to consider paying for advertising, a one-time thing would not be very effective.? It should be a repeated program.? Maybe this is not the best time to make quick decisions. 73 | Cyndi | KK7AZD On Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 9:42 PM Tau_Roar_Media <Tau_Roar_Media@...> wrote:

Hello Cyndi, Not at all. Listening in to their traffic as they go about their mountain top activations will probably be a learning experience for us all, not to mention those actually traveling to the various mountains will probably be happy to know you're there on the air with them in case they need help or directions or other information during their adventures. 73, Erik KD6RRR? Re: Hogback UHF repeater off the air
Thank you all for your rapid response.?? It turns out that the road to Hogback is clear now. We got feedback from our ODOT guy (I think his name is Charlie...) that they have been up there with no problems. I will be setting up a work party for Saturday afternoon to replace the packet radio and the UHF repeater. I will put more info out at tomorrow night's meeting.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJeff, This is a side-by-side.?? I would also offer my time and my Jeep.? It's lifted with good tires and fairly capable.? I've made some mountain top excursions for work in it where we couldn't get other vehicles.? May be a good idea for safety to have two vehicles.? I'm free after about 10:30am on Saturday and all day Sunday.? I can also skip out on work a bit early or something if Friday works better. Re: Hogback UHF repeater off the air
Hi Colleen, ?Please forgive my ignorance, what is a "side-by-side"? Is that a snowcat? It sounds like you know it would get us through the snow, so I (we) would definitely be interested in borrowing it, or requesting you take us up there if you prefer. ?? I will try to get a work party together for the 21st or 28th. It will only be 2 or 3 of us. Thanx, Jeff Eastburn KBARA Secretary / Treasurer 541-363-6154 Feel free to call. Hogback UHF repeater off the air
Hello everyone,
It appears we¡¯ve lost contact with our club¡¯s 443.900MHz repeater on Hogback Mountain. It stopped transmitting its CW identifier sometime last night and is no longer responding to its input frequency. This particular repeater is the one the club plans to replace with the new multi mode digital repeater that can be used with Fusion, D-Star, and DMR compatible radios. Hopefully we will be able access the repeater site within the next few weeks once the road dries up finally. Thank you all for your continued support of the club, and 73! Erik KD6RRR? |
