My input would be to use this next calendar year to determine?how the club wants to be viewed in the community, create marketing material?internally that everyone can agree on, then next year use Field Day as the jump start to publicizing ourselves?to the community and the first Convention in a few months after. If we want to make a grand comeback, let's plan this out accordingly and have the resources available?for when we have the influx of questions and attention.??

Well it seems that I inadvertently have created a rift here? Obviously this was not my intention, so let me apologize in advance.
My goal here was to make the biggest comeback the club and the community has seen since the COVID outbreak 2 years running.
In the past my father has used various forms of advertising for his business with varying success. The one that always paid off was the live
broadcast that he did every year to kick off the new motorcycle season.? I understand that this is a lot of money and should be voted on! But something
to remember is that the last two "Field Days" were dismal at best and we need to make a grand comeback to encourage the community to get on board!
After all, is that not the main purpose of the "Field Day", to promote the hobby?
Just my opinion! God Bless!

Amateur radio is a PUBLIC SERVICE.? As such all advertising should be in the form of a public service announcement free of charge.

Good evening.
I don't have enough info to say yeah or nay.? I guess I'll find out more after the meeting with KLAD tomorrow.?
Having said that, I think it comes down to the purpose of paid advertisement. What is the intention?? Membership recruitment?? Education?? What outcome would be considered a success? I almost think that the media might want to report "news" and "events" for free.? More questions and thoughts: Are we sending press releases to local news outlets?? If indeed we want to consider paying for advertising, a one-time thing would not be very effective.? It should be a repeated program.? Maybe this is not the best time to make quick decisions.

K-BAR-A Members,
?? I have been asked to put out a request for comments concerning Field Day advertising. Chuck Hukcabay, KJ7KWR, has made a connection with the KLAD advertising department and they appear willing and able to do one month of advertising and a remote broadcast from the Field Day site.
?? The first issue at hand is the expense. It may be as much as $1400, or SUBSTANTIALLY less once we submit our non-profit certificate. The other issue is short notice.? Even with an economical deal, we will not have a membership meeting to discuss and approve this. The board has some latitude, but we really need to represent the will of the membership.
?? There are some that think this is a golden opportunity to get our name and capability out there to the community. There are some who think this? money is better spent on other things.? All opinions are welcome and your input may provide options we had not considered.
?? We have a meeting with KLAD tomorrow morning to get more details.? I will send out what we come up with ASAP.
