K-BAR-A Clubhouse
All, ?? K-BAR-A is looking for a place to call "home". We have held a lease for various locations in the past, but in the last few years have had to meet (when allowed) in Conference rooms. We are looking for a meeting location "Clubhouse" to lease. While private property would be considered, the premises must be exclusive to K-BAR-A, due to the desire to securely store equipment. The premises must also accommodate at least 30 people for meetings and workshops. ?? If you have information or recommendations, please reply or send it to info@... . Re: Grant Opportunities
Hi Jeff,
I don't know if this is helpful...? Eve Klopf is the trustee listed for W7MHS.? She is now with High Point University in North Carolina.? Anindita Paul is listed as Associate Professor for Electrical Engineering on Oregon Tech's webpage.? Her email address is anindita.paul@... and her phone number is 541-885-1611. 73 | Cyndi Albro | KK7AZD |

Re: Grant Opportunities
Mazama still has an active club call sign WA7PZW ( good until 2028). I know one junior that has a ham license and one or two more interested.? Scott Teeples is the trustee, I don't see him as an active KCSD employee. The high school has a room with a lot of older equipment. Including O-scopes. Oregon Tech also has an active club call sign W7MHS. The instructor that is the trustee, just left the university. I do not know what, if any, equipment they have. Ken Banks is the trustee for the just renewed camp Makuala call sign.? Glenn Elfbrandt, MBA AI7FO 73 |
Re: Grant Opportunities
Thank you Cyndi. ?? I will look into both of these. Thanx, Jeff KJ7IRV, ~73 Sent with Secure Email.

Re: Grant Opportunities
You've been busy, haven't you, Jeff?? And the board as well.
I think promoting ham radio at High Schools is a great idea, providing there is indeed support from club members.? The only person I know is John Rademacher.? John is on the Klamath County School Board and I see him at the monthly in Chiloquin for the Sheriff's Citizen Advisory Committee.? In the past, I came across "Southern Oregon Education Service District" with their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program in the news.? I wonder it that's a place to consider. 73 | Cyndi Albro | KK7AZD |
Grant Opportunities
All, ? The Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) has opportunities K-BAR-A may be interested in. The ARRL Foundation Grant: "The ARRL Foundation provides Grants to organizations that promote Amateur Radio and its activities, especially to young poeple." ?The latest info in the ARRL Newsletter is the new Club Grant: "A new Club Grants program, funded by a grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications (), will make $500,000 available to radio clubs. The program will provide up to $25,000 for worthy club projects." ? At one time, Klamath Union High School had a robust Amateur Radio program. (Ask Jim English about this ;-)? There was an established Amateur Radio club at Mazama, but I do not know if it is active. Henley does not have a club that I am aware of.? Eagle Ridge is also probably fertile ground for Amateur Radio education and club establishment. K-BAR-A would also like to broaden our support for the Boy Scouts Amateur Radio program. (There are, of coarse, many others, and these comments are not meant to represent a complete list.) ? I believe this is a great time to reach out to our Schools about establishing/re-invigorating their Amateur Radio programs (with or without a Grant). ?? Secondly, many of you already know we have been working diligently to improve our analog communication abilities and expand our digital capabilities. K-BAR-A has been presented with opportunities to establish new repeater sites, as well as opportunities to purchase new digital equipment for our existing repeater sites or our prospective new ones. ? Receiving a "Club Grant" would be an ideal way to improve our capabilities and contribute even more back to Society. ?? I am soliciting suggestions and points of contact for Educational Organizations? that might be interested in partnering with K-BAR-A to either coordinate training opportunities from K-BAR-A members, or establish training programs or Clubs of their own. Once we have an established plan, we can submit for an ARRL Foundation Grant to empower our objectives. ? I am also appealing to Club members with the skills and willingness to be a Grant Writer. You would not be left to "just do it...", we just need someone with the experience to insure our effort is successful (or at least not embarrassing). ?? I look forward to your ideas and suggestions! Thanx, Jeff Eastburn, K-BAR-A Secretary KJ7IRV, ~73 Note: If you feel you are receiving unwelcome or too much email from K-BAR-A, please reply with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the Subject and I will certainly respect your wishes.
