Re: Request for Comments - Field Day advertising with KLAD
When I ran the Klamath County School Club, KC7VWW, we never had to pay for any PSA and advertisements, all coverage with the paper, TV and radio were free, since?Amateur Radio is a PUBLIC SERVICE. ?PSA are free. We had great support when we approach all the media for coverage.?

There is a banner, yellow? and black as I recall, unless I'm thinking of a taxi. Its in good condition. Al White had it at Summer BBQ Weird park. Maybe some one could locate it,? Bill KA6KBY -----Original Message-----

We should have a more coordinated, public

A much better investment would be large banner

I can see both sides of the argument.? My input would be to use this next calendar year to determine?how the club wants to be viewed in the community, create marketing material?internally that everyone can agree on, then next year use Field Day as the jump start to publicizing ourselves?to the community and the first Convention in a few months after. If we want to make a grand comeback, let's plan this out accordingly and have the resources available?for when we have the influx of questions and attention.?? Well it seems that I inadvertently have created a rift here? Obviously this was not my intention, so let me apologize in advance. My goal here was to make the biggest comeback the club and the community has seen since the COVID outbreak 2 years running. In the past my father has used various forms of advertising for his business with varying success. The one that always paid off was the live
broadcast that he did every year to kick off the new motorcycle season.? I understand that this is a lot of money and should be voted on! But something to remember is that the last two "Field Days" were dismal at best and we need to make a grand comeback to encourage the community to get on board! After all, is that not the main purpose of the "Field Day", to promote the hobby? Just my opinion! God Bless! 73 Chuck KJ7KWR ? ? Good evening. I don't have enough info to say yeah or nay.? I guess I'll find out more after the meeting with KLAD tomorrow.? Having said that, I think it comes down to the purpose of paid advertisement. What is the intention?? Membership recruitment?? Education?? What outcome would be considered a success? I almost think that the media might want to report "news" and "events" for free.? More questions and thoughts: Are we sending press releases to local news outlets?? If indeed we want to consider paying for advertising, a one-time thing would not be very effective.? It should be a repeated program.? Maybe this is not the best time to make quick decisions. 73 | Cyndi | KK7AZD On Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 9:42 PM Tau_Roar_Media <Tau_Roar_Media@...> wrote:

Hello Cyndi, Not at all. Listening in to their traffic as they go about their mountain top activations will probably be a learning experience for us all, not to mention those actually traveling to the various mountains will probably be happy to know you're there on the air with them in case they need help or directions or other information during their adventures. 73, Erik KD6RRR? Thank you all for your rapid response.?? It turns out that the road to Hogback is clear now. We got feedback from our ODOT guy (I think his name is Charlie...) that they have been up there with no problems. I will be setting up a work party for Saturday afternoon to replace the packet radio and the UHF repeater. I will put more info out at tomorrow night's meeting.
