I am hoping someone may have some experience or insight into the APRS to SMS text messaging system. I am using the Yeasu FT3D to send APRS to SMS. Which works great for me. But when I send a reply SMS back, I never receive the APRS message on my radio. I am following the instructions to the letter, but with no success. I think this would be a great system to use when communicating with non-hams, especially when out of cell signal range.?
Apparently there was a similar system for APRS to SMS that was shut down a little over a year ago. And a new system was put in place 11 months ago. I mention this because the procedures have changed slightly and the old instructions don't work for this new system. I have put a link below to the current "APRS to SMS" website for your reference.
