CW Machine Keyer setup
I have been using Logger 32 for many years. I did a? fresh installed on a new computer. The CW machine under config, I click keyer setup and get the dreaded hour glass, and then nothing happens. Everything else works fine. Radio read out is correct, etc. So, went to another new computer and installed Logger 32. I do the same thing and the keyer menu appears and I can configure the the program to work on the software and WinKey. However , on this computer it does not read the frequency of the radio. The debug window indicates it is on the correct com port. I have a? sense? this is a Windows 11 issue.

Re: CW Machine and FTdx10
First, thanks guys for the speedy responses!
?
Gary, thanks for the detailed info.? I had seen that info during my searches but was hoping to be able to do it without the hardware interface.? The FTdx10 manual (on Page 56) says:
?
And, under "PC KEYING" (page 96 of the manual) says for both RTS and DTR:
?
?
I was assuming from the above that "PC KEYING" did not require a hardware interface.
?
==========
?
Aki, your info is what I was looking for but it does not seem to work for me.?
?
My installation has Enhanced (COM17) and Standard (COM 23).
?
Here is the "Setup" for my CW Machine:
?
?
On the radio - CW Setting | Mode CW?? --? I have the following set:
CW BK-IN TYPE (tried both Full and Semi)
PC Keying - DTR
All other settings are the default ones.
?
I forget now why I installed VSPE (Virtual Serial Port Emulator) and set up a ¡°Splitter¡± for the FTdx10 Enhanced serial port (COM 17) and created a New COM port ¨C COM 34 but I did.? Anyway, that is on the Enhanced port.
?
When I click on a message in CW Machine, the FTdx10 goes into Transmit but there is no CW heard in the monitor (MONI Level is set to 100) and there is no power out. (RF POWER is set to 70 watts.)? The KPA1500 amp switches into TX but no power out.? The radio stays keyed for the duration of the message.
?
If I set KEYER to ON or to OFF, no change.? If I set BK-IN to ON or OFF, no change.
?
If I use the internal MESSAGE function of the FTdx10, I hear the CW sidetone and there is power out.? I just can not get CW Machine to do more than key the PTT.
?
There must be something I have overlooked or set incorrectly.? That's why I was asking for help from anyone using CW Machine to send CW with the FTdx10.? Maybe someone will read this who has it working and can tell me what I have done wrong or not done.
?
Thanks again.? 73, Clark, W8TN

Re: CW Machine and FTdx10
There are 2 ways to send CW. One is explained by Gary. Anther is to use RTS or DTR line in created virtual com port. You should set CW keying option in your radio. (DTR or RTS) You should set proper com port setting in CW machine. This is example. When USB cable is connected to PC then you have new two COM port, Enhanced and Standard. In my case, I see COM9 (enhanced) and COM10 (Standard) I use COM9 for CAT and COM10 for CW keying on?DTR line. 73 de aki JA1NLX

Re: CW Machine and FTdx10
Hi Clark. I don't have an FTdx10, so what follows is based on my reading of the FTdx10 User and CAT manuals. The FTdx10 does not appear capable of accepting text messages via the CAT connection and sending them as CW ... so instead you need to key the key input. To do that, you need either a hardware keyer (such as a Winkeyer) or, for software keying, a simple transistor switch connecting the DTR line of a serial port on your PC to the tip of the key input on the radio.?? There's a circuit diagram for the transistor switch in the CW Machine chapter: You can put the radio into transmit with a CAT command, so there is no need for a second transistor switch for the PTT function: the CW Machine can send the TX CAT command then key the DTR line of a serial port with the message, then send the RX CAT command.? ?However, the transistor switch is so simple and cheap that can use one for the CW keying and another for the PTT function. ? 73 Gary? ?beater/tester &? CW Machine and FTdx10
I have searched the Hamlogger messages, the Logger32 manual, the FTdx10 manual, the FTdx10 Google Group, multiple Google searches, watched several YouTube videos . . . and I'm stumped.? I'm trying to get CW Machine to work (via Software) with my FTdx10.? I can get CW Machine to key the PTT on the FTdx10 but can not get it to send CW.? I can send "canned" messages from the FTdx10 so the CW does work on the radio.
?
Has someone already done this and has CW Machine sending CW (by software) to the FTDX10?? Can you tell me the Magic Trick to get this to work?? Remember, I'm trying to do this by software and not by using a WinKeyer or similar hardware device.? Thanks.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý³Ò¨¹²Ô³Ù±ð°ùI see what you mean. This was in the relaese notes: Version 4.0.328 Fixes a comma decimal separator bug when logging QSOs after midnight So that solution for some hams made it worse for others maybe. Well I think Bob is reading these messages as well so maybe he will come with a solution. But why do you want to change te time of a qso afterwards? 73 Jan PA4JJ Op 12-11-2024 om 12:44 schreef Guenter,

Re: QSO not accoounted for
Paul, if that qso was via QO-100 I think it should not show under 13cm in the Worked/Confirmed Table but appear in the SAT row I mentioned earlier. To quote Gary from the help file; "Give your QO-100 QSOs their own special
SAT row in the Worked/Confirmed table:
? Right-click the Worked/Confirmed table
to open its configuration menu ?
? Click to tick <Show a row for SAT QSOs>"
"Hinson tip: to log ordinary non-satellite simplex
QSOs on 13cm correctly, open the BandMode
Selection form and un-tick <Enable 3cm/13cm
cross-band satellite operation>?beforehand, and
don¡¯t forget to re-tick it again before logging
further QO-100 QSOs. Got that? Good." Was it correctly logged; Prop_Mode = SAT, correct RX & TX bands / frequencies and with the satellite name etc..? Also, once you have setup the Award tracking for DXCC_SAT you can select it from the drop-down menu of the Award Table as Bob suggested; 73 John - G7SSE

Re: QSO not accoounted for
For terrestrial?13cm statistics, look at the DXCC-MIXED award. For 13cm satellite contacts look at the DXCC-SATELLITE award.
