LOGGER32 FILE BACKUP

Mecozzi, Al

For my convenience I have generated a batch file to run when I click a Logger32 Backup icon on the desktop. It copies all ISD, ISF, ISL, ISM, INI and DB files to my Iomega Zip drive. This is my preferred method of backing up the Logger 32 files. My question is, Are there any other files that should be backed up (copied in my case) besides the ones specified above?

Try - Control Panel|Regional Settings and use the number tab. Should be
very straight forward from there!

OR

You could await the next release of logger32. Not sure when it will be but a
lot of the "regional problems have been overcome..and you won't need to make
the change.

Re: Automatic filling ?

Didier Juges

Andrei,

The question as I understand it was "how to retroactively (after the fact)
update QSO's that are already in the logbook but don't have the address
field filled up". For instance, I work a number of stations while portable
(no internet and no QRZ.COM). Once back in the shack, I would like to
connect the PC to the internet and batch update these QSOs automatically
from QRZ.COM. That would be a nice feature, similar to what you do to flag
for QSLs.

Hi Didier,

In logbook entry window right mouse click -->Setup --> Set up QSO mask.
Select what you want and click Apply.

Is that what you want?

I asked that question before and the answer was no.
I am not sure if there are any plans to add that feature, but it sure
would
be nice.

Right now, when I want to do that, I create a new QSO with the same
station
then change the date/time/frequency to match the old QSO, then delete
the
old QSO. I found it faster and less error prone than copying the name
and
address fields into the old QSO.

Re: adi files

Hi Joe!
I also had a problem with backupp the adi. file to a disk.
Looks like the programm "is to fast" and it stopped after 200-300 QSOs.
Now i backup first to a folder on the harddisk (c:\ Backups) and then copy to
the disk. Works without problems.
By the way, let me say "Thank You" to the makers of Logger32.
It is the best and easiest logbook-programm, i know.

Re: anyone knows...

Jim Hargrave

I have experienced the same problem several times in the past year.

After repeated daily phone calls to the 24hour service group, I finallly
gave my ISP an ultimatum to fix the problem. When they realized I was not
going away, they finally came clean. They were blaming Yahoo, Well, What I
found was that My ISP set the threshold levels too low for Yahoo. I obtained
copies of the bounce msg's from Yahoo and found the messages were actually
reaching my ISP and being bounced by them as SPAM. They were using SPAMCOP
or some similiar program to determine the Spam levels. I dont know who makes
this determination. My ISP would not devuldge the level and how they arrived
at it, but admitted it was a problem Primarily with levels set for Yahoo
messages.

However Yahoo is not all clean here. They were blocking my entire account
after one bounce from one reflector. So much for automated threshold levels.

When companies get too big for personal attention, all kinds of problems
surface. It becomes very dificult to get thru the "press 1", "Press 2" or
"Press 3" buttons before you can get a live body on the other end. Then your
faced with a possible 50/50 chance of a "Thats not my department" response.

Having said all that, I suspect its time to get this reflector back on to
Hamlogger subjects. After all, Hamlogger does produce a lot of daily
messages. If you continue to experience the problem, Just set it up your
Yahoo account to just one bulk message daily. Its a little harder to read
with all msg in one, but it does keep you under the threshold levels.

Have a great sunshinny day with good DX...(:->

Hello all
hope we all had a good weekend and worked a heap of stations with logger32 in the anarts rtty contest
i racked up 100 rtty with the sound card program with only 2 problems developing

problem 1 - 15m locks my pc keyboard up ( stray rf its good stuff )

problem 2

i still have the dx spot problem
when you send a callsign from the LOGBOOK ENTRY screen ( ctrl d ) to be spotted on the
vhf cluster , with or without comments
it still dose not add a carrage return to the transferred spot
i need to log the callsign the activate the VHF CLUSTER screen and send a single Carrage Return
to send the callsign to the rf network

at onestage i for got to do this and when i remembered i was 35 spots behind
the network, once the CR was hit the spots scrolled up the screen

Re: LOGGER32: Regional Settings problem

Geoff Anderson

Geoff

I know it's a aaah-give-me-a-break question (sri) but is there any
indication of beta 2 or RC1 release (or even full version) date ?

Mike
The actual situation is this:-

The beta teams are currently looking at issue #478 and Bob Furzer has asked
if we are ready for a second release. This will be basically a maintence
release - in other words just the correction of bugs found. We are almost
ready for this release but there are a couple of things that really should
be corrected before that happens. One problem we have at the moment is that
Bob himself is very busy, not only with his work but he is also in the
process of QSYing QTH and the team have only heard from him a few times
during the past few weeks - when normally it is a number of times a day. So
to answer your question directly - I don't know - but we are working on it.

In the mean time, work has continued on the help file to try to make this
more current.

Just so you know what has been done to date I give the list below:-

Changes made to Logger32 since first public release.
-----------------------------------------------------

ADIF import - now includes a calculator to determine the BAND from the
frequency if the BAND field does not exist in the imported file.

QSO date stamp now gets inserted if "Send QSL" checked directly.

Awards-> Countries changed to Awards-> DXCC
Awards-> Islands changed to Awards -> IOTA

Any time format without the colon caused a crash on opening the ADD QSO
window - now fixed.

Illinois corrected to W9 in arrlsec.db

Reversed Lat and Long panes in the Grid square calculator.

Changes made to export eQSL export routine

Added option to automatically log in to the default Telnet Cluster on
program start. Right click on Telnet window for menu option. This only
works if the Telnet window is loaded on program start.

FT-920 - The default mode for RTTY is now changed from DATA-LSB to
DATA-USB.

Problem with date/time editing in the logbook - More work done on this. It
should now be possible to edit dates where the Month is spelled out in full.

Addressed the problem where the default ADD Window Date was set to the PC
date, and not the GMT Date. Number of other changes to the ADD QSO
facility.

QSO Search window - the ADSI combo box has been locked to prevent entry of
text.

Ctrl-R and CTL-Q disabled when there is no callsign entered in the Logbook
Entry window.

Added 260 and 265 pixel options to Grid options| Row height...

While exporting an ADIF file to floppy disk Logger32 crashed and locked -
now fixed.

More work done on CTRL+D and focus positioning following autolookup ...

Found a bug with , decimal separator when using FT-920 to QSY to a DX Spot

Tx-PWR manual entry - fixed.

Small bug crept in that the Zone as shown on the Logbook Entry window did
not change when the US state is changed.

Small error in sending DX spots with a message - corrected

Changed the internal time formatting to be ISO-8601 standard (yyyy-mm-dd)

More "Regional Settings" (, vs .) bugs fixed - including the sunrise/sunset
and the beam heading/distances calculating incorrectly

ITUZ was not being picked off from the ARRLsec.db...( when state included in
log input window)! - cleared

Addressed the problem of Error#13 messages on ADI file load.

Fixed a small bug relating to the flagging of eQSL and LOTW for QSL.

RST_RCVD and RST_SENT are no longer mandatory fields.

Rewritten the code to refresh the check marks on the SETUP | DATE FORMAT and
TIME FORMAT menus.

Radio polling suppressed during transmit from sound card window.

Band/Mode Table - More entry error checking added.

Problem with worked/Confirmed window not displaying correct information
fixed.

USB and LSB (in the ADI file) are now imported as SSB.

Various changes/improvements made to the editing of the logbook.

Minor bug fixed resulting from . or , decimal seperator problem in Satellite
Tracking window

Minor typo in the Counties database corrected. Mc Kean (PA) changed to
McKean

Corrected the problem whereby the print menu item #3 was using the file
description for #4.

Runtime error #380 problem found and corrected.

Clicking on a callsign in one of the two Soundcard Aux windows will now work
with the automatic callbook lookup

Minor changes to the ADIF export routine. A freq of 000 is no longer
exported.

JT44, FSK441, and JT6M now included the distributed ADIF modes.db

CW Machine Additions
--------------------

New $loop$ macro introduced. Each $loop$ = 5 seconds wait before looping.
Break the loop by mouse clicking on any entry field, typing any character,
or clicking any button.

The Loop back colour defaults to Red. This is configurable from the VIEW |
APPEARANCE menu.

Minimize capability added.

Set on top, or not on top, is menu configurable from VIEW menu.

Added the capability by typing ESC in the Logbook Entry window to break the
$loop$

Changes made to the "focus" and cursor positioning

In part, José said :-

what I meant was that I was not receiving any message from the reflector.

About once a week this stupid Yahoo system stops sending me my reflector
feeds due to its alleged "Your e-mail address bounced the messages" bull$h!t
and I have to go in and 'reset' to get it working again. Compared to other
reflector systems, Yahoo's implementation is very poor... maybe this too is
why you have not been receiving any messages.
