Please explain this keep-alive feature. What is it, what does it do, and how can I control it? Thanks.

My original install of Logger32 does not have any "Copy of ***" files in it. A test install to a new directory did not have them either. FWIW -- Eddie Seymour, WB4MLE E-Mail wb4mle@... |

No - they shouldn't be there and I have no idea how they got there either. I suggest you move them out of the logger32 directory into a temp folder somewhere ( just in case) and then run logger32 to see if all is still ok. When satisfied, then delete the temp folder 73 de Geoff G3NPA Geoff.Anderson@... ----- Original Message -----

Telnet "keep alive"
Rick Williams
Recently I've been having some L32 telnet problems, 3 to be exact. Two of
the problems were not L32 related but minor problems related to the set-up of my firewall (ZoneAlarm). The 3rd problem is less obvious. No matter how I configure the Telnet "keep alive" it seems to always be there (even when it's not checked). The default seems to be 9 minutes and I can't get rid of it! Any insight would be appreciated. 73, Rick VE7ASR Web site: |

1. I notice that all of the ISL file have a zero file size. If there is a description of the these files in the Help section, I missed it. 2. Right after I installed Logger32 for the first time, both the original and copy of files were present in the Logger32 folder. A puzzlement to me. 3. Absolutely I'll give it a try, in fact, I do this sort of thing often. Check out WinVNC here: It lets you log into another machine and access it as if you were looking at that machine's desktop. You can get it in various flavors: Windows, Linux, and Solaris. I have used the windows and Linux versions to log into my Windows box from Linux and vice-versa. It may not be exactly what you have in mind, but it does the trick. You can't drag files from that machine to your desktop very easy (but it can be done), you just have to think 'inside the box' for a change. Mark N9POA ----- Original Message -----

Subject: Re: [hamlogger] Setup I have a couple of questions here:- 1) Logger32 was (and is) being developed on a Win98SE system so the included files would be from that era. Now what its the announcement actually saying/ Is it the the files you have already are more up to date that those provided or is it the other way round? If your files are more current, then keep them. 2) You say that when you run setup AGAIN .... Why do this? Is Logger32 not running for you - and if so, what is the problem? 73 de Geoff G3NPA Geoff.Anderson@... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary and Julie Burow" <vk4gcb@...> To: <hamlogger@...> Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 10:51 PM Subject: [hamlogger] Setup I have had Logger 32 running under Windoze 2000 successfully.Unfortunately I had a hard drive problem and had to re-install everything. I have the following questions:I don't know, but I think that this could be a bug... 2. Is it not necessary to copy the Copy of xxxxxx files? Apparently not as they are contained in the User Files Zip file.I think that the "Copy of xxxxxxxxx" files are not part of the Logger32 "original" distribution but created by a copy&paste action, maybe to have another copy. Are you sure that the "Copy of ...." files are identical to the corresponding files? I think they are not updated...so they could be an old copy of your logbook. 3. Whay are the Stats32.xxx files not included in the User Files Zip file?I think because they can be recalculated from the menu (Tools/Maintenance/Recalc stats) Ciao & 73 Fabio IZ4AFW |

W2000 does not allow you to overwrite DLL's (thank god) so it will replace the overwritten systemfiles with the original ones and nothing changes... maybe you should try to install w2k service pack first. In general I will not install software that tries to overwrite system DLL's with W95/W98 trash. It is not a recommendation that L32 is developed for W98... there are better Windows versions around today. Don't think that most HAM's stick with W98.... most visitors to my web pages use XP already. 73, Arend ----- Original Message -----
