Recuperating and FIELD DAY HAMMY AWARDS!
Well, Kathy and I are still recuperating from the FD marathon. Almost back to normal hydration and Kathy still tending her fire ant bite, but we're good.
The thousands of votes have been cast and counted (Hi-Hi) and the Hammy Award Winners are being announced on World Wide Radio: - Danny gets the nod for best WE NEED HELP! last minute antenna deployment.? (With Cliff and Mike's help) - Larry G. won the best CW op - I hear that his hand is still vibrating! - Tommy T. achieved the highest Safety & Medical Officer Honor with nearly no injuries. Oh well, we won't count my chair collapse! - Bob R. gets the Annie Oakley award for most accurate arrow shooting! - Leonor got first place in cooking unlimited class for her multiple dishes at the potluck and Sunday morning breakfast casseroles as well as providing hydration! - Jimmy received the HAMMY Heavy-Lifting award for going beyond his doctor's weight lifting restrictions! - John gets the Creative Engineering Award for finding a better way of lifting the tri-band antenna to the tower and avoiding the trees! - Mike gets the Master of Technology Award for the logging networking and pushing his Flex to accomplish multiple modes (Phone, PSK, RTTY) including capturing the W1AW bulletin. - And there are many, too numerous to mention, Hugo, Larry M., Matt and others that received honorable mention Hambud awards. We had a total of 37 participants and visitors, including Paul Gilbert, the ARRL Section Manager. We captured 100's of bonus points for sending packet emails and achieving one SO-50 satellite QSO with Southern CA. Thanks to the NAQCC hams, we racked up more points than last year and had fun doing it. So start the planning for Field Day 2020. I will make the reservation for the pavilion soon. 73, Greg? (contact me at WB5GM at ARRL dot NET if you have any suggestions for improvements for next year) |
FIELD DAY UPDATE - Pot Luck Dinner
We still need an HF GOTA station and operator.
Also, the Hambuds want to do a potluck dinner on Saturday night.? Bring a dish or snack to share. Greg is bringing BBQ sausage bites - Kathy is making cole slaw. Your participation is optional. If you plan on just visiting the Field Day activities, you may want to bring a camp chair for eyeball QSOs.? The picnic tables are not very comfortable. We don't have an air conditioned trailer available this year, so limit your heat exposure as necessary. Bring ice and cold drinks. Tommy, WD5EMS will be our medical/safety officer. Stay hydrated or Tommy may send you home! 73, Greg -? ?wb5gm at arrl dot net |

Greetings Joe - You found us.? Yes, the website is defunct or at least under construction as they say.
The Hambuds Field Day is open to any amateur radio operator that wants to join in the festivities.?
