Re: FIELD DAY - Laptops for Logging

I am assuming the logging software will be the. N3FJP. Field day logging software, and that someone has a product key? FIELD DAY - Laptops for Logging
We didn't discuss it last Saturday, but if you are planning on setting up your radio as one of the stations, please let us know if you don't have a laptop for logging.
The laptop will be loaded with the logging software and needs an ETHERNET connection - with a short pigtail CAT 5 to the router. If your laptop does not have an Ethernet connection, then you can use an Ethernet-to-USB connector. Do we have any shortage of laptops? If anyone has an extra one for FD use, let us know. |

Greg, ?What class was the ham buds going to attempt to run this year? ?I know that the naqcc portion of this operation will run a CW station. Then i am sure there will be at least a couple of phone stations, and possibly a digital station. So i could see running 4 alpha easily.? Thoughts? Danny,? Have you guys ever installed the tower on the opposite side of the pavilion? It looks symmetrical and there is plenty of open space out to the train track. The footing there would be in a flower bed. Others have mentioned that they have poles/push-up poles for another antenna.? We need a lightweight HF antenna; a spiderbeam or hexbeam if we are to mount it on poles. Or we can use the poles for and end-fed or dipole. |

Hello group.
Here is a thought that may work well, safer and easier for getting the tribander in the air on the tower.? Get the tower and mast up against the pavilion first work the mast and flag in place.? A pully and rope at the top of the mast near the flag be ready.?
Will pull the antenna up the side of the tower to the top using the pully and rope.? Person on the roof will secure the antenna to the mast while ground crew hold the weight of the antenna.? I can visualize the being maybe easier than using the ladder and
fighting the trees...

Well the good news is that there is a brand new restroom building just a few yards from the Railroad Pavilion! And the trees that usually hamper the raising of the tribander don't seem to have grown too much more. They look somewhat the same as last year.
The bad news is that none of the 3 GFCI receptacles were working. All three are in bad shape and need to be replaced.? I will contact the park people to let them know.
With the new restroom building to the west of the pavilion they have trimmed some of the trees in that direction. We might be able to partially prop up a mast against some of those tree limbs. And with some higher guy ropes, we could have a 40 foot pipe mast for a light-weight antenna. Any ideas? |
Re: Field Day - Park Site Inspection - RESTROOMS!
I have some poles. What ever works, I will go by there and look also, Greg. I need to do that. Thanks for going by there. Jimmy

You should see "directory" on your Hambuds page.? Click on it.? Then click the "profile privacy setting" link in blue. Scroll down and change the "profile privacy" (pull down choices) to "other members of your group" and click SAVE at the bottom of the page. Now, directory should show you all members.
