Re: Comments on Bill Miller BBQ breakfast?
So far I have missed the meetings at Bill Millers, so I do not know the specifics.? I was wondering if there was a by-law or something about meeting at places that have restaurant servers but I see that the topic has been broached. Having waited tables a long time ago, I know what a difficult job it could be to wait on a group that is an ever-changing mass. I would vote "yep" to those kinds of places but remember that will throw another gripe factor into the mix.? It will be difficult to find a place that will be able to provide the kind of service that everybody would be happy with.? That being said, Cafe 1431 is usually slow when my family goes there, and iHop is fine and has reasonable prices. The Smokey Mo's over by Sprouts is a place we go to a lot, but unless they have added on recently, I don't think the tables would be conducive to a group like ours, and I haven't ever seen a room there.? Though I do like me some Smokey Mo's whenever I can get it.? Bottom line, I'm good with anyplace, I just go for the company, so I will endure the sandpaper sandwiches and oyster shell pudding where ever they are.? 6/10 meter project
Hi everyone,
For those that are interested in helping install the 6/10 meter split site repeaters this Saturday, we will be meeting at Smoky Mo¡¯s BBQ in the Whataburger shopping center in Round Rock around 9am. I¡¯ll be coming back from EMS shift work with a 2 hr drive, so if you can¡¯t be there by 9am, no worries- I¡¯m probably going to be late myself. From there we will form a plan. Talk in and event operations will be on 444.875 + 5mhz PL 100.0 analog so that the digital linked system won¡¯t be flooded with play by plays-LOL! The weather looks like it¡¯s going to cooperate! 73! ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat about the 1431 Cafe? ?It¡¯s just down the road from J&J¡¯s and they open at 0630. ?Of course in order of Brad and Bob, we could always go to the IHOP in Cedar Park. ?;-) 73, Tommy Taylor, WD5EMS? XS Max On May 1, 2019, at 9:08 PM, Tim N5TML via Groups.Io <n5tml@...> wrote:

Re: Comments on Bill Miller BBQ breakfast?
Hi, Hambuds! ?? I'll throw in my two cents. ?? BM BBQ is clean and dry, which is nice. ?? One Saturday I tried their hash browns, and they were very salty.? Too salty to eat, at least for me.? Their sausage is also very salty.? I don't really like bacon, so due to my allergy to gluten, scrambled eggs is all I can eat there. ?? I'm not sure why we are shying away from places where a food server (formerly a waitress) takes our orders.? The Austin Hams (AARC) eats at Waterloo Icehouse, where servers takes peoples orders, and the hams arrive between 7:00 and 8:30 or later.? The Williamson County ARC meets at I-HOP in Georgetown, where servers takes the orders as well.? I think we should include such places in our search for restaurants.? We can always move if the wait staff doesn't like us coming in at various times. ?? I'm not familiar with the area so cannot recommend a restaurant to try, but I would prefer finding another place to meet and eat. 73, Tim L. N5TML

Re: Bill Miller breakfast
I sent an email to BM BBQ headquarters in San Antonio. I asked them about the menu limitations for breakfast. Maybe they will call me. I am looking for more off-menu items that could be provided if we asked as we go thru the line.
i'll let you know what I found out.?? 73, Greg |
Re: Bill Miller breakfast
I thought it was OK.? Let's try it again. I was told by a manager that we could order anything that we wanted for breakfast. Don't feel that you're limited to what is on the menu or in the hot trays. I'm gonna try ordering an omelet even though it's not on the menu. If we have any complaints about the food, let's tell the manager.

Bill Miller breakfast
We need to ask, what was the opinion of the Bill Miller breakfast?
My opinion is only one dislike, is that is not a lot to select from What I did have was not bad and the price was lots better seems to be good coffee, but I need to bring my own cup So, my opinion is fairly nuetral, and not apposed to the change if that is the consensus 73 to all Jimmy Brown kc5wlf? |

It's on the NW corner of the intersection of Lakeline and 1431. Looking forward to seeing you there 6:30-7:00 PM start time. 73, Greg - WB5GM@... |
Re: Possible new breakfast meeting place - Bill Miller BBQ
Hi! ?? Another consideration while looking at new restaurants is the some of us (me especially) needs some of the breakfast items to be gluten-free.? I don't want to just drink the coffee. :-) 73, Tim L. N5TML

Jack - I don't think we want to consider any place where a waiter takes our orders.? We need to grab and go,... or order at counter and be seated.

Re: Possible new breakfast meeting place - Bill Miller BBQ
The Bill Miller location looks like a good possibility for a meeting place. Agree, disagree or don't care????? IHOP would be OK, but not good for visiting and BS. Tnx Greg for the discussion. Jack KB5TXS

Jack, KB5TXS suggested that we look for an alternative breakfast location. Kathy and I stopped in to Bill Miller BBQ (corner of Lakeline and 1431).? We talked with the manager about having 10-20 people for breakfast. Here's what we found out: - They have pancakes, eggs, bacon, tacos, but not waffles.? Check out their breakfast menu at this link: - If you are eating there, you just pick up a tray and go through the line to place your order. - We asked if the coffee was good. The manager does not drink coffee, but said that they have many customers come in only for the coffee. - They open at 6:00 am on Saturday and should have plenty of seating with high ceilings to cut down on noise. - They do NOT offer a military discount. - We saw no visible roaches or water puddles on the floor! ? Check it out and let the group know if you have any other suggestions.? J&J's is going downhill. Today was particularly bad for roaches and water puddles in the back room. There has been little maintenance or updates. It may be time for a change. ? 73, Greg - WB5GM |
