On the gm3sek software, it does a calc, to arrive at image Z...called 'RM'.? ( sq root of? R1 X R2).? R1 = transformed plate load Z? ?R2= 50 ohm output Z).?
Fact is,,,? u can enter any value u want on line? 74.?
You don't get a choice for the L coil Q.? ? The only place to change the Q is on line 39? ?'Overall network Q'.?
?
Myself, I avoid the PI-L like the plague.? ?And in this case, a lower Q? with the PI-L doesn't work due to the tube C.?
Put the PI-L on an ant that isn't 50 ohms on it's harmonics and the PI-L? harmonic redux is degraded.? ?Pu the plane jane PI net on an ant....and the even harmonics get attenuated by a bunch..( 9 db at least)..... and even more if the feedline is tweaked, such that it looks like XC? at the back of the amp.... ( on the even harmonics)? typ 13-14 db.?
?
Back between? 1979 and 1989, when I was up north, 2 of us would visit the VE7ZZZ contest station.? ?It was operated MM? in phone contests...and MS in CW contests.? ?No filters, band pass filters, LP filters, nor stubs used any where.?
PO was 1250w on 160m...and 1.9 kw on all other bands.? zero issues with harmonics.? I was the 160m op...and my local buddy was the 75m op. You woulda thought? that would be an issue, but wasn't.
?
BUT the ants were far apart ( 150-200')? from each other.? ?Separate tower and yagi for? 40-20-15-10m.? ?160m was a vertical wire in a tree.? ?80m was an extended zep between 2 other trees...and up 90'.??
?
Perhaps if multiple ants on the same tower, then the issue starts up.?
