This group is for all folks running the original IBM VM/370 Release 6 operating system (or later (e.g. VMTCE (Community Edition)) on Hercules. Like the other early IBM operating systems this version has always been in the public domain and so can be freely distributed. The base version as supplied by IBM is lacking in many facilities. IBM solved this by providing additional extension products which were licensed and so are not available. There are however many user enhancements available which can be installed. In addition, in order to get users up and running quickly updated "releases" of VM/370 included the most popular updates are available for download, so novices can start to learn VM without having to delve into the system internals. It is intended that this wiki will provide information on the base release and these updates.
The available versions are here :-

Re: Drive Interrupt button using Hercules?
If I remember correctly, on the 3350 it was the attention button I pressed to generate the interrupt to break the CCW chain. Thanks for the "I addr" command.

Re: Drive Interrupt button using Hercules?
I don't think so. That would just generate a standalone Device End (and/or Attention?). It's possible that might effectively interrupt a running channel program, but probably only because the OS will

Re: Waterloo / VMShare tapes for VM/CE?
Oh, that's surprising to hear, I didn't know that. I dumped MacOS when they started telling me how to work, around the 10.5 era. (I already know how to work!) The removal of a common, standard program

Re: Waterloo / VMShare tapes for VM/CE?
None that I've heard of. Of course it wasn't really reasonable for a *web* browser to support FTP in the first place, but the first ones did, and so built an expectation. Hardly. It comes with every

Re: Waterloo / VMShare tapes for VM/CE?
Does such a browser exist? Safari dropped FTP support ages ago and I don¡¯t think Edge supports it either. FTP support is hard to find. I need it and run an old MacOS using Parallels to support it.

Re: Waterloo / VMShare tapes for VM/CE?
Firefox has dropped FTP support too, the idiots. After all, to these kids, "Internet" == "world-wide web". But that's ok, ftp (meaning plain old "type 'ftp' at the command line") works as well as it
