Original Freecycle Canberra [email protected]
The Original Freecycle Canberra (ACT) group started in August 2004. It's a grass-roots group of local Canberra (and surrounds) people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in our own city. The Original Freecycle Canberra group has always been run and moderated by local volunteer moderators.
Original Freecycle Canberra used to be part of the FreecycleTM network. However, with the FreecycleTM network FORCING all FreecycleTM groups to move to another website and thus be owned by a USA based group/charity which asks members to donate money, we were pleased to break away.
We will never ask members to donate money.
Next, in October 2019, was the move by Yahoo to strip Groups of their Content and Posted Material, effective 14 December 2019, This prompted the Canberra Freecycle Owners to make a decision to move to Groups.io, founded by Mark Fletcher, who ironically is the founder of Yahoo Groups.

So thanks for sticking around and keeping our Original Freecycle Canberra group truly local, independent, part of our local community and FREE!
