Ride Report .....Bumpy
6
Ride report for today - Hendersonville to Northern Alabama. Very strong headwinds and bumpy, bumpy, bumpy. Lots of radio traffic reporting rough rides. We stayed low to stay out of headwinds> 30 knots about 5K . Seems like smooth rides were 9000 and above but that would have put us up against even stronger headwinds.

P47, P51, T6 missing man Tomorrow
2
From Jarrod Jarvis: Ladies and Gentleman, A friendly reminder that for tomorrow I have coordinated with a team flying over with anticipated aircraft P47, P51, and 4 to 5 T6¡¯s doing a missing man formation. Time on target has not quite been identified but estimated around 11am. The T-6¡¯s will land at 0A7 and a following crowd and participants as well as pilots will be visiting the museum. The p47 will obviously not likely land. Should be an interesting experience nonetheless and encourage you all to spread the word to anyone with interest. Thank you Jarrod Jarvis

Looking for 200 Ohm Resisitor
12
Anyone have a 200 ohm resistor, need one for hooking up VDO fuel pressure sensor. 1/4 watt (or less) will do as it is a signal line only. Thanks

Airfield runway ¡°X¡±s
If you¡¯re out at the airfield today would you take up the folding ¡°X¡±s on Johnson Field? If you have a truck and can bring them to the Museum Hangar apron we¡¯ll put them away. The only ropes that need to be left up are the ones from the corner of Mark¡¯s and my hangar to the old fuel shed. We¡¯ll string one from there to the SE corner of the Museum hangar apron. This is to prevent vehicular traffic on that area of the swamp so it can heal up a bit. Thanks Alex

Missing bolt ends multi-engine check ride ¡ª General Aviation News
Have a Stabilator? I do. The trim assembly is super critical in it's proper function. It is what "flys" the tail. Check those fasteners, pins, nuts... https://generalaviationnews.com/2025/05/09/missing-bolt-ends-multi-engine-check-ride/#comments Take care, Tim H.

FAA Statement about Newark
4
Tuesday, May 13, 2025 The FAA and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) collaborate to establish staffing goals for every facility, for every area in the facility, and for each shift. They update the goals yearly and the goals are based on full staffing in the facility or area. There is a nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers, and the FAA for years has not met the staffing goal for the area that works Newark airspace. The persistent low staffing levels and low training success rate at New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON), or N90, were contributing factors to moving control of the Newark airspace to the Philadelphia TRACON in 2024. Philadelphia TRACON Area C, which directs aircraft in and out of Newark, has 22 fully certified controllers, 5 fully certified supervisors, and 21 controllers and supervisors in training. Ten of those 21 controllers and supervisors are receiving on-the-job training. All 10 are certified on at least one position in Area C and three are certified on multiple positions. This means they can work those positions without supervision from an instructor. We have a healthy pipeline of controllers, with training classes filled through July 2026. If daily or per-shift staffing levels are low, the FAA ensures safety by implementing traffic management initiatives, such as slowing the flow of aircraft into an airport. You can find additional information in the statements we have issued on Newark. The public can get the latest information on staffing and operations in general at all airports at www.fly.faa.gov. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy has made air traffic controller hiring a top priority. Learn more about the FAA's effort to boost air traffic controller workforce.

Pipistrel Virus
Yes Jon Smith! It is easy to catch the Pipistrel Bug! A beautiful airplane! This one was certified as a glider! It is quick. This was for a Light Sport Glider Add On! Glide ratio is about 17 to 1. A joy to fly! If I remember this one also had a ballistic chute! Mike
