Hmmm
I¡¯m fairly sure many of us receive General Aviation News every day as I do and appreciate the quick review it offers in the latest aviation occurrences.
Today¡¯s article was a bit different and I¡¯d like to share an impression (My unfortunate psychiatric training is responsible for this, so apologies). Please study this photo that illustrated one of the newsworthy items today: Did you see it? I found it really interesting that all of the men in this group of A&P students uniformly held their arms in an adversarial or ¡°crossed arms¡± position while all of the women (again uniformly) held theirs in a submissive position. With the increasing validity of the real worth of women in aviation, I was disturbed by this. I¡¯d really like to have seen the women cross their arms to accentuate their value rather than to have assumed what appears to an observer to be a position of subservience. Our gals in the WASPS, the 99¡¯s, the WIA, so many other worthwhile groups and the great female pilots (aviators) and instructors I¡¯ve known and trained with deserve acknowledgement and appreciation. I don¡¯t expect them to be bossy but at least equal. They have to know this and act accordingly. Vive La Difference!! |
Sid, ? That's a very interesting read on your part. I think it could also be taken as the women are willing to" listen and learn", and the guys are thinking "I know all this stuff" ! It would really be interesting to see who the performers are in that group. My guess is there are more females in the "shining star group" than males... Interesting observation, Sid.? Below is an enlargement of the image.? There is one fellow in the back with his hand resting on his chin.? Maybe he is more engaged by this particular?topic.? Impossible to say for sure.? I see the validity of both Sid and Mark's observations. Males dominate A&P maintenance and aviation in general, as well as most mechanical fields.? In such an environment, males feel more at ease than many females.? And many more boys than girls grow up working with their fathers in the garage or shop, and may be more familiar and possibly jaded with the subject matter.? In the end, aviation, especially general aviation, needs more certified mechanics, whether male or female. Brian On Mon, Apr 28, 2025 at 12:03?PM Mark Cigal via <mcigal38=[email protected]> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am willing to bet those are CAP CADETS or ROTC. On the plus side no one is staring at their cell phone while the instructor is talking!Mike On Apr 28, 2025, at 12:43, Brian Leverson via groups.io <sotatwin@...> wrote:
