Re: Hmmm

Sid,
? That's a very interesting read on your part. I think it could also be taken as the women are willing to" listen and learn", and the guys are thinking "I know all this stuff" ! It would really be interesting to see who the performers are in that group. My guess is there are more females in the "shining star group" than males...

I¡¯m fairly sure many of us receive General Aviation News every day as I do and appreciate the quick review it offers in the latest aviation occurrences.

Today¡¯s article was a bit different and I¡¯d like to share an impression (My unfortunate psychiatric training is responsible for this, so apologies).

Please study this photo that illustrated one of the newsworthy items today:

Did you see it?

I found it really interesting that all of the men in this group of A&P students uniformly held their arms in an adversarial or ¡°crossed arms¡± position while all of the women (again uniformly) held theirs in a submissive position.

With the increasing validity of the real worth of women in aviation, I was disturbed by this. I¡¯d really like to have seen the women cross their arms to accentuate their value rather than to have assumed what appears to an observer to be a position of subservience.
Our gals in the WASPS, the 99¡¯s, the WIA, so many other worthwhile groups and the great female pilots (aviators) and instructors I¡¯ve known and trained with deserve acknowledgement and appreciation. I don¡¯t expect them to be bossy but at least equal. They have to know this and act accordingly.
Vive La Difference!!
