AVL expanded Class C airspace

At breakfast this morning, I mentioned I'd asked Ricky, the AVL controller, how ADS-B Out was affecting his day-to-day operations.? He said previously their aircraft position information was restricted to primary radar echoes and Mode C transmissions, both limited by the mountains at AVL.? With the addition of ADS-B ground stations, he said ATC now receives near real time aircraft position information from ADS-B Out-equipped aircraft over a much wider area.? With this additional coverage,?there had been discussion of expanding the AVL Class C shelf to as much as 20-25 nautical miles from the current 10 nm.? I'm not aware of any current Class C airspace shelves that extend more than 10 nm, but there is an FAA proposal to grow the Fort Lauderdale (FLL) Class C shelf to 25 nm (see?).? Any change would be years away, but I'm not surprised.
