Request for Unconference/Open space consult in the MIC re anti-corruption and aid for Ukraine
Hi all, We've had a request for expertise in the Meeting Innovation Community, but I think we're a little light on Open Space folks there at the moment. The goal is to help people working in the anti-corruption space coordinate their efforts to combat fraud in the guise of aid for Ukraine. Details here: https://www.meetinginnovation.community/c/seeking-solutions/exploring-an-unconference-aid-for-ukraine-and-anticorruption (Login required as this is in the community-only part of that space) Passing it along in case folks here would like to chime in. Thanks, Elise Lucid Meetings

Zoom audio transcripts
4
Hello! Has anyone managed to produce zoom audio transcripts without a business license? (Which Zoom support told me you need 10 individual business licenses in order to produce transcripts..) Apparently you can do transcripts with Closed Captioning? I haven¡¯t been able to get this to work though. Thank you! Catherine

Hybrid conference on feminist theory in multiple languages happening now
Hi, All! There's a exciting hybrid conference happening now and for the next 4 hours (also tomorrow) about feminist theory at Duke University. There are three audiences: in-person participants, online participants, and livestream viewers. I'm sharing the link with this list, because you'll get a chance to see a cool multi-lingual AI translation tool called Wordly which we integrated into Zoom & QiqoChat for this conference. Here's the link where you can watch the livestream, Wordly, and the schedule. The Wordly team is great. We strongly recommend doing business with them; here's a link to Wordly which provides you a 5% discount. One other aspect is that Zoom allows for only one custom livestreaming service at a time, so in order to make this possible (streaming to both YouTube and Wordly at the same time) we first had to stream to a service called Restream. Restream then splits the stream and gives you the ability to stream to multiple services simultaneously like YouTube live and Wordly. Seeking lighting + wide angle camera recommendations
5
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations for: Face lighting for Zoom calls, something smaller that fits on a desk, and is strong enough to overcome some backlighting. Wide angle camera/360 microphones to support hybrid meetings. This is just for me and my business of 1, so I'm not looking at institutional pricing, something more affordable. [NCDD-DISCUSSION] Best platforms for building online communities in 2022?
6
Thank you very much to everyone for sharing their answers. I shared this question on the NCDD discussion list and the Facilitators for Covid Response list. The only community tools that were recommended were the following: Mighty Networks Sutra Welo Discord Email + Zoom These helpful lists of tools were shared by Tim Bonnemann: Community Club Community Tools Index The Ultimate Community Platform List Govbase: Tools for Online Communities It is surprising to me that with so many community tools out there, so few community tools were recommended. Hi All, A lot has changed about online communities since the pandemic began. Does anyone here belong to an online community that uses a platform that they would recommend? What makes the platform good, and what types of communities is it for? I will compile a list and share it back out with this group. Thank you! Lucas Cioffi

Best low-bandwidth e-learning platform? multi-lingual, low-bandwidth,
2
Brilliant minds, I'm searching, once again, for an e-learning+ platform that works well in low-bandwidth settings. What platforms have you used, or even heard of, that are... (from most to least important): low-bandwidth friendly - can function on a low bandwidth, of 10Mbps download or lower allow for multiple admins, course creators, moderators - most often happens on a paid subscription plan, which is fine) accommodate both e-courses and a resources library; extra points if it also has a chat, "feed", or social component (think "community of practice") can be accessed accessed on both smartphone and desktop offer WYSIWYG editing - no back-end coding, minimal to no markup language provide simple analytics - to cover access and course progress/completion, at minimum give users super-simple ways to contribute - no more complicated to find, understand, or use than a Facebook feed or WhatsApp group I'm not looking to build a custom platform, but am open to creative uses of existing platforms, and possibly stringing a few key tools together. Thanks for your insights! Tech support pay and responsibilities - working online with blind participants
Hello, regarding tech support, I pay $50-$60/hour and expect more than what's presented in the list below. For example, I would add: Ensure before a session starts that I as facilitator and my three devices are good to go (always need to have 2 back-ups), giving feedback on my lighting, my clothes, etc. Provide tech support to participants throughout the session, including helping them with the chat feature and with taking polls, and staffing the main room during breakout-group sessions and assisting people with getting in and out of groups and reminding them that participating is encouraged/required (this requires experience in multicultural environments and strong oral and written communication skills) Jump in if I lose audio or screen sharing and keeping the session's flow going to the extent possible without deep knowledge of the content, reassuring people I'll be back soon while also helping me on the side to get my audio/screen-sharing back Provide me with guidance and feedback, such as "When you did X during today's session, here's what happened. I would recommend you try Y next time. Shall we practice ahead of time?" So perhaps there are two levels of tech support one might require for an event, with mine calling for a higher degree of expertise and proactivity. Thank you for all this group is teaching me, Spee Braun Spee Braun, Management and Organizational Development Consultant in the international development and humanitarian sector (facilitator, trainer, coach, mentor, researcher, etc.) East Chatham, NY USA

working online with blind participants

Dear all. First of all let me wish you all a happy new year. I have been requested to facilitate online a strategic planning process for a community in which there are several blind people. Starting to reflect on how to organise the process, I have realised that all of my work online relies on visuals and sight. Any experience of working with participants with special needs? Any advice to offer on inclusive tools and software? all the best ge Office: Via A. MS TEAMS training
6
#tech
Any MS Teams veterans here? I'm about to deliver an online training to health professionals being facilitators in MS Teams. The platform is chosen, so no discussion about that possible. The group is quite relectant to learn the tech bit, they also do not want to experience any interactive exercises> They have already been participants of loads of interactive sessions but as group is lacking the technical skills to pull it off themselves. As far as I understand there is no opportunity to handover co-host rights in MS Teams as organisator, so I wonder if the following go around might work... participants watching a few videos beforehand on how to set up break-out room, spotlight someone and so on. on the day of training participants coming over to my MS Teams meeting room (no channel, named 'Main Room') for the start and welcome first lesson by me is on how to set up a meeting, and how to copy the whole link in the invite. I do this by sharing my screen and showing the steps in a Word document or so one participant share his/her/their meeting link in the chat (as organizator of that meeting room), then we all hop over to that room in the room of the participant, the organizator sets up breakout rooms as practice the other participants who want to practise break-out rooms as well, can set up their own meeting link and invite us to hop over For this to work, I am wondering: when hopping over to another organizator's room, do we need to end the meeting 'Main Room'? Or can both meetings rooms stay open as it will be on 2 different accounts? how to best keep track of the different rooms? Maybe open a google doc and ask they to pop their links there as they become organizator for their own rooms? the training is 2,5 hours and I bet that hopping back and forth gotta take quite a bit of time. How do I make it ¨¦ss 'boring'? Many thanks in advance! Advice on digital platform for community collaboration
4
Colleagues I'm looking to invest in a new platform for next year, for the online workshops I have been doing. As background, most of the workshops are for adult learners, who are grassroots or neighborhood community leaders. Setting aside the inherent challenges with internet access/digital literacy, I think I (and they) are ready to move on from Zoom + Mural/Slido, etc. configurations and go deeper. Core features we need: Video, polling, breakout rooms, shared note-taking, white-boards, voting, I realize these are not apple to apple comparisons, and that whatever I choose may not be a forever solution. That said, I would like to select one to master and introduce to the groups I work with in 2022. I am eager to hear your thoughts/advice on any of the following. If there was ONE you would invest time and money in, which would it be. Or am I way off base? -amalia Butter.Us GroupMap VideoFacilitator amalia deloney amalia@...
