Wondering if anyone has any experience with Spatial.chat as a tool for virtual happy hours? I like the look and feel of it better than Gather, but have not tried neither yet. What are your experience with the tool?

Fun, celebratory, brief online activity 2
This week, I am closing out a four-month virtual community engagement process in three cities. I'd like to end our meetings with some sort of activity that celebrates our work together and helps to galvanize them for future collaboration when this engagement is done. Does anyone have suggestions for something engaging and fun? And probably no more than 10-15 minutes? There will be 30-40 people in each meeting. Thank you! Ellen

Resources for a Virtual Conference (from the LD4 2020 Conference)
Thanks to everyone who has been sharing great resources here (love the infographic in the below resource!). I was recently part of a team who transformed a planned in-person event to a virtual conference (Linked Data in Libraries: ld42020.sched.com). To prepare to move our conference online, I began compiling various guides to planning a virtual event, and have continued to update the list: Resources for a Virtual Conference That document also includes resources used by the LD4 conference organizing team, such as an event planning checklist and a list of tools we used. I hope it will be helpful to others planning virtual events. A challenge/opportunity 14
I have an opportunity to connect online with the entire employee base (300 people) of a newly amalgamated organization for 90 minutes. This can be used as the launch of a process to develop a set of organizational values. The tools I have at my disposal are Zoom Meetings, Google Docs and ThoughtExchange. Any and all wild ideas, thoughts, suggestions and accumulated wisdom on design ideas will be most appreciated. Unfortunately, the tools I mentioned above are the only ones available for this session. Pros and cons of WebinarJam?
I'm looking for advice from facilitators who have used WebinarJam, as we prepare to test and transition with a large group. I'd love to hear anything you think might be useful to know, based on your experience, but below are some particular questions I'd eventually like to understand: What do you like? What do you dislike? How user-friendly is the platform for those less comfortable with new technology? (Think: avid WhatsApp users, relatively new Zoom users.) How low-bandwidth-friendly is the platform? (Think: slow West African internet connections.) If you're not a big fan of WebinarJam: Are there similar platforms that have the breakout rooms and integrated apps for a similar price point? (Think: annual unlimited license for less than $1000usd) Thank you in advance for sharing your wealth of knowledge! A taxonomy of virtual events 11
Hello everyone. My team and I need some help! In large organisations, when decisions are made about purchasing virtual platforms, they are often driven by the ¡°back end¡± (the technical specification) more than the ¡°front end¡± (what facilitators and leaders of events want/need to get the outcomes they seek). My team does a lot of virtual facilitation and hosting within a large system. Through the pandemic our session have got bigger, more complex and daring in their approach and with increasing level of interaction. We have started to make the case in our organisation for access to a wider set of platforms to work with. I have been trying to find a ¡°taxonomy¡± which sets out different kinds of virtual events. This is to enable us to match the kinds of virtual events that my team is being asked to provide with the tech platforms that we have available. This is where I need your help. I haven¡¯t been able to find such a taxonomy. I can find plenty that are written from the ¡°back end¡± that contrast the tech specifications of different platforms but nothing that is written from the ¡°front end¡± perspective of facilitators and leaders of meetings. The nearest I have been able to find is the ¡°four bases¡± that Phil Hadridge of Idenk wrote from his research on learning from virtual meetings. So I used Phil¡¯s framework as my starting point and created a draft taxonomy. Here is Phil¡¯s paper: https://www.dropbox.com/s/khi2ju3sa2b9hwq/idenk%20virtual%20working%20survey%20July%202020.pdf?dl=0 Here is my draft taxonomy: So can you: Let me know if such a taxonomy already exists and give me the link? Help me to improve this. I know that many of you are very experienced virtual facilitators and I would appreciate it if you were as challenging as you want to be. Here is a link to the taxonomy as a Googledoc: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Gqt2tv7tLX972ELDx6caJW7xLoHxxpMgqfnhTyJPHxU/edit?usp=sharing Please feel free to change it. It doesn¡¯t need to look beautiful, I can do that afterwards. I will share the finished version with the group. Thanks so much in advance. Looking for expert with CVENT CrowdCompass and Online Event Guide 2 #events #facilitation #technology
All - I just joined this group today. I have a prospective client who is using CVENT CrowdCompass and Online Event Guide as their conferencing platform for a conference with 150+ people, 32 breakout sessions plus 5 general sessions. They had told me they were using Zoom meetings as their platform, but I just learned they're using CVENT CrowdCompass and Online Event Guide. My client says: "Basically every time we bring up the Zoom integration piece of the conference, CVENT throws their hands up and says ¡°oh that¡¯s Zoom only ¨C consult with them, not in our lane.¡± The project I'm talking them about is to coordinate all the session moderators and be the go-to person for all the moderator coordination and training/preparing their speakers. If they're having issues between CVENT and Zoom, I want to be sure I know what to expect. I am very knowledgeable about Zoom meetings with large 50-100 person groups. But not CVENT CrowdCompass and Online Event Guide. Does anyone have experience with this specific set of platforms and can offer guidance or talk to me about what to be aware of and watch out for? I haven't confirmed that I will be submitting a proposal yet, but I need to decide in the next day or so as the conference is last week of October! Yes - they just decided to hire this out. Thanks. Vision: Make running Liberating Structures online easy - feedback wanted 27 #liberatingstructures #technology
Hi all, let me quickly introduce myself. I'm Kevon and I run an interactive video conf platform called Toasty ( https://toasty.ai/workshop-facilitators/) ( https://toasty.ai/workshop-facilitators/?&utm_source=groupsio&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=feedback-wanted ) designed for facilitation & engagement. We want to make it very easy for any meeting facilitator to engage their audience without juggling between different platforms, and so we have a series of engagement activities that the host can grab, customize, and use to drive conversations and collaborations. Recently we've added some Liberating Structures templates to the platform, and because we're definitely not professional facilitators (more passionate tech builders), what I want to seek help is for experienced facilitators to take a look and give feedback on how we can improve the set up of those templates to re-create an "almost like" physical experience. I'd appreciate it so much if we can hear your insights! Here are the steps for anyone interested: 1. Go to https://toasty.ai/ ( https://toasty.ai/?&utm_source=groupsio&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=feedback-wanted ) and click the top right orange button 2. Sign up for a free trial account 3. Create a new session, pick a Liberating Structure template 4. Doing so will populate the structure using different "Toasty activities" - this is the interactions list that you can use to engage the audience during the live session 5. If you can, use another computer (or open another tab) to join as a participant and test run it 6. By now you should have tons of feedback! I'd love to hear them. (I can reach out to you to say hi!) Thanks a lot, Kevon

Mentimeter but billed monthly? 4 #technology #facilitation #hybrid
Dear all, Mentimeter, Slido, Polls everywhere..... I believe these instrument all vary just a bit. I am specifically looking for a tool which is billed monthly, like Zoom is offering. As I will be using the tool for a hybrid event and the participants on site probably won't use to laptop but will have their phones to give input. Any recommendation for a tool? Thanks in advance!

How to export zoom chat data without name and date? 11
A quick question: Does anyone have experience with how to export the content of the zoom chat in a cleaned up version, without names and dates of each entry? I am playing with the idea of copying into a spreadsheet and ordering all posts alphabetically and deleting all the lines that say "From...." But it seems like there should be an easier way. Looking forward to hear what you are learning about this? Cheers, Rowan
