Counselling / Therapy online

Hi all, I'm supporting a bereavement charity who give counselling/therapy to people who are dying and bereaved. They are moving online, briskly. Does anyone have any pointers/experience/stories/thoughts for this particular area? As well as our immediate need to go online for existing clients, I guess there's a wider frame around this which is how to support the people going through the global trauma too.... best wishes Ed

When do you charge for a webinar? Would you charge for a webinar? Should you charge for a webinar?
5
Hello, I have been of the mindset that webinars are primarily marketing tools and should be free. I was on a call with another consultant yesterday and he says he only does webinars that are fee-based. He says that people pay anywhere from $59 to $119 for a 60 min webinar. Given that I don't particularly enjoy the webinar format, I'm wondering what everyone else's experience is. My big question: when is a webinar value-added if not for marketing? Thanks, Elana

"Working through Working from Home"
First, a deep bow in Nancy's direction for pulling this remarkable site together. A plethora of resources and creativity. When the history of this strange time is written (well, we're writing it!), this stream of ideas will certainly be linked to time and time again. Meanwhile, I did a podcast on Monday with Tom Stewart, former editor of Harvard Business Review and now exec director of the National Center for the Middle Market. Topic? "Working through Working from Home." There might be something useful there as you work with your clients--and help friends to navigate this very peculiar and disquieting moment.

Spreading Empathy and Kindness Online - Free Tool
2
Hi everyone, Thanks for all your amazing opensource sharing and building. I've been reflecting a lot on where I'd like to contribute and the way we collaborate and communicate was something that I kept coming back to. If you are like me, you probably noticed how there is a lot of room for miscommunication due to the high stress we all feel when we talk and collaborate. I want to help and inspire more kindness and thoughtfulness.? I created this EQ (Emotional Intelligence) tools to inspire how we rethink how we communicate and collaborate. I completely understand some of us are not able to work remotely or online and some may be less relevant. Still, we will all be needing to communicate more online and I hope this helps us practice more empathy. ?? Few favorite reminders: ?Pause before reacting ?Learn how to build trust online ?Be aware of what encourages and discourages me online ?Be mindful of why I want to say this or share this online. Is it self-centric or self-less? ?Trust good intentions before judging Thank you for your resilience and perspective. ?? Feel free to share with others who can benefit. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all that you do and how you support one another. Cheers, Monica -- Monica H. Kang Founder & CEO InnovatorsBox +1 (202) 256 0303monica@... Zoom call at 4pm PDT today, "Hylo for COVID19 Mutual Aid"
2
(I'm not affiliated with these folks, but the call sounds interesting and I hope to attend. - Pete) https://www.facebook.com/events/s/hylo-for-covid19-mutual-aid/247369526293553/ "How can we route resources and care as effectively as possible as we navigate this pandemic as an interconnected, global community?" "Facebook wasn't built for this. But Hylo is. Hylo is a free coordination platform with no ads, no algorithm, and no taking down your posts sharing critical COVID-19 links due to buggy AI moderation." "Join Terran Collective, the stewardship team leading Hylo, to discuss priorities for extending this tool to meet the needs of the current moment. Show up ready to co-create with us, or hang back and simply fishbowl, up to you. We wanted to make this planning session transparent and open to the community we wish to serve." "Some of our ideas: - Upgrade Requests/Offers feature with smart matching - Location-based, transparent mapping of resources - Mutual aid templates for one-click community creation" "What are yours?"

Thanks y'all

Hi all, I just wanted to say a big heartfelt thank you to all of you, those I know and those I don't know. I just facilitated my very first Zoom, Liberating Structures, whole person, work meeting. My heart is full of the warm connections I was able to create and engage in with my colleagues and I wanted to say: Had I not hung out with you and experienced the magic that you create in meetings I participated in, I wouldn't have known how to do this. It was a team farewell meeting, and one thing we did which was really useful: Instead of flip charts we used slides. E.g. One slide per person in an appreciation activity, where everyone could write what they appreciated about the other, and then all could read what others had written about them and we landed together all looking at each other through video, and sharing some reflections. Have a good weekend. Eva

How to do a Virtual Conversation Cafe with NCDD
#events
Passing this along from NCDD Hi Friends, We find ourselves in unprecedented times. I hope you are all healthy and hanging in there. NCDD has been working quickly to offer some opportunities for folks in our network to connect, as we have much to share and think about together right now. One such offering will take place next Wednesday, March 25 from 1-3 PM Eastern/10 AM-Noon Pacific. We will be hosting a virtual Conversation Cafe via Zoom to allow folks to come together to share how they are feeling and thinking in these tough times, as well as explore what we might do next. This is an exciting opportunity to see Conversation Cafe used in a virtual format. Susan Partnow, one of the creators of the process, and I have been working on developing materials to help you host your own, and we will share these out soon as well. Join us to connect and learn more about how this process may be useful to your work or your connecting going forward. More information is below and at http://ncdd.org/30948. I hope to connect with you soon - stay safe and all the best to you. Courtney Courtney Breese Executive Director, National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation courtney@... www.ncdd.org @ncdd @courtneybreese NCDD is a gathering place and resource hub for dialogue, deliberation, and engagement - learn more and join the network here! Announcing a Virtual Conversation Cafe about COVID-19 Add Comment Posted by Courtney Breese | March 19th, 2020 | Friends, the desire for connection and thinking together is overwhelming in this time of physical distancing. NCDD, along with our member and dear friend Susan Partnow, have decided to offer another opportunity for our network to come together in dialogue to support us all during this time. Next Wednesday, March 25th from 1:00-3:00 PM Eastern/10:00 AM-Noon Pacific, we will hold a virtual Conversation Cafe ¨C all are welcome! Register here to join us. This Cafe is intended as an opportunity for us to connect around how we are feeling and what we are thinking at this time, as well as exploring what we do next. We hope this will help build community among us in this difficult time, as well as help generate ideas for what we might do individually and collectively. It will also be an opportunity for you to experience Conversation Cafe in an online format. This model is an elegantly simple process for bringing people together in small group conversations to share, listen to one another, and deepen their understanding of one another and a topic. It was built for face-to-face conversations, but Susan and I have been experimenting with it online and are finding that it may be a great model to help people connect virtually during a time of distancing physically. We plan to share some materials for moving this to an online format in advance of the call! If you want to participate, please register today!

Is there a registration tool on Zoom?
2
Hello, I have a client that wants to use Zoom for public workshops. She wants to be able to register people online and have them pay for the course online. It doesn¡¯t look like Zoom offers that ( I could be missing that) but wondering if there is another app that works with Zoom to make that happen. Thanks so much! Elana

What is the best world time / meeting planner tool?
11
Hi all, sorry this is probably a dumb question; I've been working locally for years and am back to international meets, and have lost touch with international meeting timing. Like most others I'm at home, trying to adapt to home life, local community support, being drawn into international stuff, juggling childcare and work, etc. etc.... and trying to plan is really stressing me out - and a usable, share-able timezone tool would make the organising bit of life much happier :) What is your preferred tool for world timezones/meeting planning? love from Bristol Ed

public involvement in the time of social distancing

Hello everyone, I'm looking for any tips folks might have for engaging in robust, accessible public involvement remotely. For example, how could one conduct a virtual open house about a potential development project in a rural area? What if there's not reliable internet? Or very low-tech participants (e.g., farmers considering whether to use their lands for solar development). What about ongoing back-and-forth post-open house? Appreciate any tips! Sarah

Well, it's time for dialogue facilitators to act: together
2
Good Morning fellow NCDD members, Open Space List members, Art of Hosting list members, and F4C-Response list members. This is an invitation for my American friends and colleagues. I'm sharing it on these international lists, because there are probably efforts in other countries that are far ahead of us, and I hope that we can learn from each other. INVITATION In the next few weeks American leaders are going to made decisions that either increase risk for health or for our economy. Much of the national "conversation" will be on TV with the American public as passive bystanders; they will be left without a voice on what happens to our health and to our economy. I believe that we -- yes the people on these email lists -- have an unprecedented opportunity to actually help the public change the conversation. As facilitators, we do not have scientific expertise (and neither does the average resident or citizen) but WE do have expertise in how to include scientific experts in our processes. What is possible now? What can we do together that rises to this tremendous challenge facing literally all of us right now? I don't know what's possible, but I believe we can co-create something truly inspiring. We don't need to use one method or tool; instead we need coordinate and align all of our diverse efforts to have greater impact. To start some initial conversations among all of us, please RSVP for this open, 60-minute planning call next Wednesday April 1, at 12pm Eastern / 9am Central / 4pm UTC. All are welcome! Let's see what we can do! Lucas Cioffi Founder, QiqoChat.com Scarsdale, NY 917-528-1831

Learning Styles

In a thread somewhere in the past week I saw a common brain myth shared on this list. I'm not replying to the person because it was in otherwise brilliant email and I don't want to seem like I'm attacking. The myth - people learn effectively in different ways. The fact - we don't. We have preferences, but our preferences aren't always related to what is effective. Some sources on learning styles: https://speakingaboutpresenting.com/presentation-myths/the-myth-of-learning-styles/ https://www.wired.com/2015/01/need-know-learning-styles-myth-two-minutes/ https://digest.bps.org.uk/2018/12/12/an-additional-reason-to-abandon-learning-styles-teachers-and-pupils-do-not-agree-on-the-pupils-preferred-learning-style/ https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/12/091216162356.htm If you're interested in the science of learning - you might start here: https://www.amazon.ca/Learning-Science-Instruction-Guidelines-Multimedia/ (Its focused on eLearning). Before Covid19 blew my world up, I was putting alot of my spare time energy into understanding effective eLearning. Back to your regularly scheduled crisis Mark
