Contribute your insight/perspective/experience hosting VIRTUAL unconferences?

Happy New Year, f4c community! Hope everyone's 2021 is off to a great start.?

Would anyone with experience hosting, running, organizing a VIRTUAL unconference be up for sharing and contributing your unique insights to a content piece we're putting together explaining unconferences, why/how they might be more engaging for attendees, and most importantly, how they can be organized virtually??

After reading our first rough draft, I'd like to bring the piece to life more vividly with real-world examples and interesting perspective from folks who've already ran virtual unconferences. I think there's a ton of value for folks who've never experienced an unconference in helping explain to them the benefits of the unconference format.?

I'd be happy to to include your name and brand/agency with link to your site in the article as thanks. This piece will be featured in our main email sequence (100k+ contacts), shared on blog and social, etc.

Please ping me via email at julian@...?if you're up for it- I can share the draft in advance of you sharing your insights.?

Many thanks!?
-Julian

Hello Julian,

I look forward to hearing more about what?other event organizers are doing for online unconferences.? It's a format with so much potential for bringing interactive events to many more organizations.

Here are two?examples I can share from QiqoChat...
  • Sabrina Apitz?used Qiqo + Zoom + Mural?+ Google Docs in an unconference for German federal agencies.? She explained how it went in this??(halfway down the page).
  • We also ran the 2-day Cut|Fill unconference in an open space format + 2 panel discussions at the beginning.? contains a link to the 3-volume book of proceedings and the summary video.? These were landscape architects with no previous experience with unconferences, but they found the format to be very engaging.

We will be running an unconference this weekend for UX Camp DC using Zoom and Slack. We are down to one ticket left unsold out of 75 as of today. I can have more details after the event. We typically host this event at a location like General Assembly, so it will be interesting to see how it works fully virtual.

Hello Julian, I will ask @JudyRees from Rees McCann to get in touch, she has been running Metaphorum, an online unconference for 6 years now. It is an annual event for the Clean Language community, run online by choice, not pandemic forced. Over the years she has learned a lot, I not sure how many people have been doing it repeatedly for so long? In November she used Qiqochat for the first time and it was very good for the format, excellent in fact.?

Julian, you are doing a Tool Talk at our Remote Together Community on Feb 9th I believe? See you there maybe?

Very odd, Nancy- maybe the forum doesn't like the hyperlink. Let me try again?. Hopefully that works better. Thanks for pointing that out.?
