Hi all,?

I believe I added?everyone to the calendar invite. However, in case you did not receive it, the invite to the zoom tomorrow?on Hybrid Meetings is below.?

In addition, I'll set up a Mural to harvest the highlights from the conversation?and will post it online after.?

I'm looking forward to a first conversation on what's working well for people, what the challenges are, technology tips/ advice and generally considering this in the context of a few scenarios (less than 12 people; 15-25people and over 50 people).?

See you online!?

Kind regards,

Hi Michelle

I would be happy to join and contribute my experience of moderating virtual and hybrid events. I tend to do more classical conferences and seminars than brainstorm events but very interested to explore tips and tricks that make it work well.

best

Hi Everyone,?

I was the one who started the hybrid conversation thread, and I'm excited that Michelle picked it up again! I am probably the one least knowledgeable about it, so I come with the main aim to listen and learn. I will be coming from travel so I'll try my best to catch up.

Cheers, and see you!

Re: Hybrid Meetings Conversation #1 - June 24, 8:30-9:30am Pacific

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi Michelle

Great topic. I¡¯m really interested.

I can¡¯t make conversation 1, but will share a blog post I wrote exactly one year ago today about hybrid events and some heuristics:?. In that blog post I also point to earlier posts where I share the equipment we use.

The kinds of questions I have for your volunteer fish are along the lines of:
  • What are you doing, in what context, to serve what purpose??Can you share any pics that help bring it to life?
  • What are the social and technical practices you are using to complement the agenda and the technology??
  • Tell me about an instance of when it was working really well. And tell me about a time it didn¡¯t go well at all.?
  • More generally, what are the costs/benefits of doing it like that?
I can imagine that it could take around thirty minutes per fish to get that level of depth. Perhaps they would be for future deeper conversations.?

It would also be an opportunity for the fish to ask for some peer advice e.g. now that you¡¯ve heard my context, and given y¡¯all's shared experience, what else do you think I could be doing or thinking about to make my hybrid events even better, given the resources I have?

I¡¯d be happy to support any future such conversations.

There was a lot of interest?in talking?about hybrid meetings!?

Thank you?to those who offered to figure out great ways to sign up for the discussion. I am doing the low tech way. If you answered the message, I sent you a calendar?invite.?

I suggest this conversation will be a series. The first one is to hear what people are doing and using. The second to actually do some tests and trials with people in different locations that may be able to simulate the hybrid situation.?

Conversation?1 is scheduled for June 24th, 8:30-9:30am Pacific Time Zone. Zoom details are below.?

Come prepared to share (or to listen) experiences you have had doing HYBRID meetings (small group, large group, simple or complicated). Fishbowl type discussion with volunteer?fish.?
We can capture it on Mural, a zoom recording or please email me if you have ideas.?
Let's see how far we get, the questions coming up and how we might continue the conversations.?

Looking forward?to learning more Friday,?
Michelle

Re: Hybrid Setups

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi all!

Michelle, thanks for putting this out there and seems like you¡¯ve stirred up a lot of interest!

I do leadership development, training and social impact network facilitation and am very interested in/involved with hybrid meetings as well.?

This may be a one time check in but seems more likely an ongoing discussion learning community here and perhaps in real time.?

Would be happy to help coordinate as well and wanted to lift up Elise Keith¡¯s offer to track RSVPs (and maybe there is a polling function we could employ).?

Excited for this conversation!

Best,

Odin

We did a hybrid meeting this week using two cameras for stage and audience, with jam board links and chat. We are combining their notes with the larger group for a final report.

It worked well and simply although next time I'd love to see the notes from zoom live. 75 in person and 40 online.

Thanks for getting this conversation going.

I would also love to join you. I haven't been involved in designing any hybrid events for a few years but that will change rapidly.

Best wishes
