I have done this many times on Zoom... even with group size of close to 100. Worked great in the way that John is describing (moving people into breakout rooms as they arrive, after a short hello). Then we close the breakout rooms a few mins before we start to bring everyone back to the main room. It's helpful to let people in from the waiting room in batches, so you can welcome a batch (say hi, quick explanation of what's happening), then pop them into breakout rooms, then welcome the next batch. With the tech host we just figure out the right rhythm - it doesn't really matter how large the batches are, it's just easier than letting folks in one at a time. And we let folks know they they can click "leave room" if they need to return to the main room while they are visiting.?

A client has suggested using the main zoom room as a 'greeting' room and then people go to a breakout for the plenary sessions. She would then stay in the main room to guide people who come late. I have never done this but I am curious if you have.?
