The workaround for MacOS is very straightforward. ? After trying to open PSUD for the first time, go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy>General tab.? You will then have to "unlock" the pane by clicking the lock at the left lower corner and entering your password.? I don't recall the exact sequence, but you should be able to then allow MacOS to run PSUD. ?

Out of curiosity, what would it cost to be an "identified developer"?

It's not an Apple exclusive I'm afraid; Windows 10 & 11 are displaying similar warnings if the software isn't registered with them, arguably easier to work round though.
