Charlie, what 3D printing software?are you using? With Marlin you could probable use Gcode to control your fans.

Hello, All,
Just a mention to those of you who use 3D printers.? John Lindo has found that precise control of the cooling fans in a 3D printer is very helpful in making especially the more difficult prints.? I have much less experience, but have seen the benefits.? Unfortunately, my printer control board does not support electronic control of the fans, so I built a little controller to handle my three fans.? (The first is the extruder fan, which I usually run at half-speed while printing the first layer, and then increase to full speed for subsequent layers.? I stole John's part cooling duct design, which uses two cooling fans, and these can be controller independently.)
I have provided some photos below.? If it's of interest, I could provide the simple 555 IC circuit that I used, but I went a bit overboard, using TIP120 Darlington transistors, rated at around 6 amps, to control my little 100 mA fans!? Anyway, please LMK and I will share the details.
