A1G value
4
I just tried to purchase 2 cars on ebay that George says have a value of $6-$8. Two individuals battled it out and one sold for $25 and the other for $21. Apparently the recession has not hit A1G yet. Robert

A1G Locomotives Are Back!!!
6
You heard it here first... and I do mean FIRST... Doug Gosha's Atlas First Generation Locomotives webpages have returned to the 'net! After being unceremoniously dumped, along with every other "Hometown" page, by America Online on Halloween 2008 (trick or treat?!?), Doug's excellently detailed comprehensive pages covering the A1G Locomotive series literally inside and out are now once again part of the A1G family and being hosted in my IrwinsJournal domain. http://www.irwinsjournal.com/a1g I'll be doing a little more "integration" to the A1G site as time allows, but the important thing was to get the pages back up as soon as possible. Please note that you can continue to contact Doug with any questions about the A1G Locomotive pages. He'll be able to send me any changes and I'll post them. Also, the Lone Star Treble O Gauge pages that accompanied the A1G Locomotive pages on Doug's old site are also back on line. This is the first place that Doug and I are announcing the return of the pages... so you have a World Exclusive... at least for now... Enjoy, and welcome back, Doug! Cheers, George A1G Webmaster

94 Foot Tank Cars Still Sell Well...
A set of all four of the 3110 series A1G "whale belly" 94 foot super tank cars sold on eBay yesterday for the impressive price of $260.87. I've observed that sets of cars usually (but not always) go at a bit of a discount versus individually sold cars. So the per car price of a bit over $65 each is pretty good-- also considering the economy at the moment. That price per car is over what I've listed as Approximate Values for any of the super tank cars. (But I'll leave those estimates where they are for now.) No affiliation to the auction (obviously) and in the interests of fair play, I didn't post this until it was over. Cheers, George Your A1G Webmaster

Re SD45 with reversing headlights.
2
"I believe there was one difference on the Concor version of the shell - the lights actually worked on the long hood of the Concor SD45." "Mark" Uh, As I said, reversible headlights, similar to the MRC RSD-15. Whwn the engine goes forward, the front headlight is on. When it backs up the rear light works. Chuck

Re SD45

I have a Con-Cor B&O SD45. It was made by Mehano and the mechanism is similar to the MRC RSD-15. I mean both trucks powered and reversible headlights. The shell is identical to the A1g shell. Chuck Seemann Aurora, Colorado

A1G B&O SD45?
2
I was just looking at the file here on the A1G site for the 1971-1972 Atlas catalog I believe that was distributed in Sweden during that time. What caught my eye on page 11 was a blue B&O SD45 with the part # 2141 which actually belonged to the Santa Fe unit that was produced. Does anyone remember or even have (had) that B&O unit that was shown for that page? Rick

Screws for ATLAS/RR Passenger Cars
2
I just picked up a #2662 Santa Fe Corrugated Baggage car from Ebay. As happens occasionally this car had a little surprise - a previous owner apparently lost one of the screws and replaced it (crudely) with an ill fitting screw. I think the thread on the "cylinder" is still good so ... A) Does anyone know what size (pitch, thread, etc) these screws are? B) Better yet, can anyone recommend a source for a replacement screw that will work? Thanks! Mark Peele

Did Atlas ever release their Roadside Inn/Howard Johnson looking restaurant in N scale? I remember that they had talked about it many, many years ago. Michael Bishop

My Dear Fellows of the group, First of all Happy Holidays !!! And more especifically, a lot of cars and locos in the next Happy New Year !!!! I've been collecting A1G cars (at moment 59 ) since three years ago and I'm looking for some vinegar car, the type that doesn't have anyone.. As I live in Brasil, at this time is very difficult find some exemplar on the Ebay auctions. I have one Warren Jumbo Car tank in a very good shape to a possible exchange with someone that are looking for this car. It have the original box and the inserts. If this is not against the list rules, please contact me to arrange a possible deal. Thanks to George, our kindly A1G Webmaster and Regards to everybody Carlos Amadori PS. 3110 94' Super Tank cars
3
I started accumulating A1G cars last week. So far I have purchased the 4-3010 series Vinegar Cars, the 3-2340 series Jumbo Tank Cars, and the 4-3030 series Helium Tank Cars. My next search is for the 4-3110 series 94' Super Tank Cars. So far I have located the 3113 Wanda Petroleum Car I saw a listing on ebay for all four @ $250.00. Since I am knew at this I was wondering how does this price line up. The Wanda cost me $35.00 so it appeared the $250.00 for the four was possibly a little high. Anyone out there have advice on pricing or availability. Thanks Robert

A1G Web Site: 40 Foot Bulkhead Flat Car Page Refreshed
The page on the A1G 40 Foot Bulkhead Flat Cars (which share the 2280 series) has been refreshed with new images. Special thanks to Dan McDonough for his help in getting some "new" copies of two of the 2282 Illinois Central cars into the accumulation. You'll see that they aren't new at all, but old enough to have been sold in the plastic boxes with the hard plastic spacers that hold the car in place, versus the usual blue inserts. I've posted an image of the car in its box as well so you can check it out. Also, I found in my archives an image of the 2281a1 Southern Pacific "N&W" car that someone sent me in 2006. I can't seem to figure out who provided that image. If it was you, please let me know so I can acknowledge your contribution. Have a look at your leisure... http://www.irwinsjournal.com/a1g Cheers, George Your list owner/webmaster

A1G Locomotives Page Lost :-(
You may already be aware that America On Line, apparently without warning, shut down its user's "Hometown" pages on October 31, 2008. Unfortunately, this included Doug Gosha's A1G Locomotives page. The timing couldn't be worse as that site was included in his excellent article in The N Scale Collector. Doug, I tried contacting you... please reach out to me and let's see if we can't put this back online. The "Wayback Machine" (www.archive.org) appears to have the text but not the images. Cheers, George A1G webmaster
