Hi, I'm new to this group. The reason why I subscribed is mainly
because I have a lot of old AHM/Atlas/Aurora cars on my NScale
layout. For many of them there is no prototype information - which I
hope to get from this group.
I have several of AHM No.4454 cars, dating from the 60's or maybe
70's.
They have outside bracing, with one diagonal brace on each side of
the approx. 9' wide plug door.
AHM sold them painted&lettered for Thermice, KO&G, REA and NYMX.
They don't have express trucks, but normal friction bearing trucks.
The item numbers were 4454A,B,C and D.
It represents a true mechanical reefer with a diesel engine on one
end. The louvers are horizontal, and there is a roofwalk.
To date, I have not found a prototype photo of this car. Does someone
know what prototype they have (IF there is one?). The closest match
I've found are Santa Fe reefers, but they are longer and do not have
this type of a plug door.
