I remember that time period.
? ? Our local hobby shop just ( Vail's Hobbies ) just open a new store in our newly built Marquette Mall in Michigan City, Indiana. In the glass case on the top shelf where the HO locos were displayed was a photo taken at the Toy Fair show on the east coast of a piece of N scale equipment with a quarter laid next to it to give the impression of its size. Remember my friend Bobby Cusick & I marveling at the photo and couldn't believe the size of the train piece we were looking at ! Within the following year the first Atlas N Scale train sets started showing up. Never knew at the time we were looking st something that would have a great impact on the hobby..........?

Group,
I've been very, very slowly making my way through the back issues of Model Railroader (starting with the first issue-- I have the "75 Years" DVD and Railroad Model Craftsman (from January 1968) making note of the various N Scale features and advertising.??
Keeping to the topic of this group, here is the modest but very first mention of A1G in an Atlas advertisement, from July 1967.? The main subject of this ad is HO Scale track, but down in the right hand corner, what do we have... Coming Soon, Watch for Atlas "N Gauge" Model Railroading, with a photo of a steam locomotive.?
Just a hint of what's to come... Now, let's see if I can keep the post numbering consecutive...
Cheers,
George (your list owner)
