Dave, sorry to see you leaving the "spectator" mode but understood.

Any thoughts?
Thanks George for both responding and asking.
You will understand it is entirely my own decision to cut back on less 'activities' for myself and no reflection on the group. I've enjoyed the interactions and help I received over the years, a much kinder group than many of the hardline chaps around the others.
I suppose the audience for the genre is reducing, as they always do, and hence the activity goes with it. I think your efforts and the group, whilst slow, and I did occasionally punch out a cheeky post I think just to get some debate, have always been effective and encouraging. UMTRR can't possibly fail, so this avenue doesn't exhaust much energy compared with that.

I cut back last year on newsletters from the many large companies that I had lived in hope of seeing models come from (for the old D&RGW- a railroad I specifically targeted and researched since 1998 actually, with one short trip to Denver/ Col Springs etc and a memorable ride across from SF on the Cal Zephyr in '02. So I briefly lived a little and saw the West and Mountains from the railroad! (Actually I did a lot more research in Mass. on the AWI...) .

I'd love to pass on my collection to someone/s who will cherish them for what they are- not valuable but effective and entertaining pieces of history. I've made good runners out of most old material, repaired a few and refurbished to 'company' detail a lot, but never quite got them finished. With my friends passing it all very much fell out of favour.

I guess if there are competing attractions, I don't know much about them as I've slipped away from actve research- but I don't think I'd want to encourage you to close it down. Yes I agree the technology era, whilst inducing good, and made many people rich, has also irreparably damaged society by enhancing the need, desire and demand for 'instant gratification' which i find sad really.

I wish you all (AND ALL) the best results for the future, regards for now
